Linens Are A Must

February 19th, 2007 @ 5:35 pm by Mrs. Emerald

As I mentioned in my last post, I went to a wedding show at my venue yesterday. Silly me forgot to take many pictures cuz I was so engrossed in the whole “wedding-ness” of it all. The highlight was getting to taste some cakes, yum. pleased

One thing I have decided is that we definitely need to spring for nicer linens. Their standard white ones are too sterile and won’t go with the whole vision I have in my head. I am looking for either a copper organza overlay or chocolate brown satin linens. But dayum, rentals are so expensive! Why does a piece of fabric that the company can rent over and over again have to cost $30+?

I think I’ve managed to find a company who offers the organza overlays for $13 and the satin linens for $20. This sounds like a total steal, but I’ve just emailed them asking what the set-up and pick-up fee is… I’m scared to hear the response!

Here is the basic table set up. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

The mirror in the center looks unproportionally small. They had a lot of other tables all dressed up with expensive linens and centerpieces, but of course I forgot to take pictures of any of them. Oops.

I’m definitely not crazy about the banquet chairs, but nor am I willing to rent chaircovers (not crazy about them either). If money was not an object, chiavari chairs here I come! Unfortunately that is not the case. At least the chairs don’t have some hideous pattern, and pale green is actually in my color scheme!

In Other News…

- I got past my internal indecision and ordered my veil from Occansey Designs today! I should be receiving it within 1 to 3 weeks, yippee!

- My invitation designer sent me some potential monograms, and I am totally in heart2 with one of them. I will post it up as soon as the design is finalized!

that was what i thought when we looked into renting linens. some were renting out for over $100 each! but i found out that linens are often ruined after one use because of all the food/alcohol/stains that are on them once they’re returned. so that probably gets figured into the cost.

i think we paid $25 for satin linens, which is a bargain in nyc. the company we got them from had a bunch of custom stuff leftover from another event they did, so we got a great deal.

i think linens have a big impact, and will definitely make your event more beautiful that it already is! :)

Maybe I’m boring, but I think linen rental is overrated. No one will remember that your chairs matched, they are concerned about eating and having a good time at the party. Save the money to use elsewhere!

I wouldn’t worry about the chairs…no one will remember after the reception is over. Those centerpieces do look really small. I’m sure that can be spiced up with a little DIY.

I’m not sure if I recieved a deal or not, but I’m renting my cloth table lines for $10 a piece.
