Matchy Matchy

I much prefer matcha to matchy matchy. Anyway, I digress even from the very beginning.

I happened across this china pattern today while googling something completely unrelated for work.

For about a nanosecond, I thought it could be the perfect china pattern as it matches our wedding colors! Then my sane, logical brain kicked back into gear. The pattern is not my style (or Mr. Lime’s) at all, and the blue’s not the right blue, anyway! While it’s very beautiful, I am quite the opposite of a florals/birds girl (albeit the pattern here is quite cleaned up and contemporary).

Anyway, for those of you looking for a fun pattern or [more than just] a splash of color for your formal china, I present to you Michael Sieger’s Emperor’s Garden. I found it available through Michael C. Fina for about $480 per 5-piece place setting shocked. Mmmm…it’s quite tasty eye candy, anyway.

There is something really appealing about them. I actually like the patterns better than the colors. I just can’t see them with blue frosting or at Christmas, Easter, or Thanksgiving. If I could have lots and lots of China they might be a fun addition, but I dunno.

I loved this pattern and seriously considered it–but too expsensive, and we thought we’d get tired of them really quickly. Went with Kate Spade library lane instead.

i love everything about this china. it is totally in my wedding colors and we are using a bird motif on our invitations. alas, we both have sets of china passed down from our grandparents. also, this stuff is just too expensive…
