My First Bridezilla Moment

February 20th, 2007 @ 10:34 am by Mrs. Orange

Sorry about my hiatus. I had a cold that lasted throughout the last week on top of final meetings with vendors. :( But, I am okay now with less than three weeks to go!

Last weekend, Mr. Orange and I went for the semi-final meeting with our catering hall. Everything went well until we discussed the timeline. We were told that we cannot arrive at the hall until 6, unless there is no afternoon event. So far, there isn’t any and if that is the case on March 1, we can arrive at 5:00 as we had originally planned (to take pics then so that we may fully enjoy the cocktail hour).

The moment our banquet manager said that, my mind raced so quickly around all the details of the arrival time — the makeup/hair, photographer, florist, etc. The banquet manager assured us that they’ll let us know as soon as something changes, but I was not a happy camper then.

Did you have a timeline for your wedding day? And did it go accordingly?

Making up a timeline for the big day is sooo difficult. I know I have a alot of time ahead of me, but I want to try to get everything set & in order. trying to get everyone (vendors & people) coordinated is very hard. I know things will go a bit off schedule on my big day, but I’m hoping it will at least stay within the guideline I am planning. Lots of luck Miss Orange!

I am in the exact situation. Our reception site said that 10 weeks before the wedding if there is no afternoon event, then they will let us on earlier. As for getting ready, we are doing it at a nearby hotel and taking pics at an arboreteum beforehand. The earlier we get on site would be less hectic so our families could have more pics with us. But I would make a contingency plan. Good luck!

Try having your wedding at 9:30am!! I don’t even want to start thinking about the timeline. We should be able to do all the setup the day before though. :)

Yes to your first question; no to the second. Primarily because my DJ didn’t start the music on time (I think he was worried that we weren’t ready yet - I had to have someone go out and tell him that we’d been ready since ten minutes before hand, and would he hurry up and go already before we were all such nervous wrecks we couldn’t stand up any more).

I’m having similar problems, and my wedding isn’t until November! I still have no idea how long the ceremony will take, as it will take place in his church, not mine. The ceremony is scheduled for 4, and the reception (right down the street) is to start at 5:30. The problem is that I don’t think anyone is allowed into the hall until precisely 5:30. I don’t want people standing around outside if the ceremony is shorter than I planned, but I also want there to be adequate time for photos a receiving line after the ceremony. What do you think… will it be too much time in between?
