Pew Decor

February 20th, 2007 @ 8:28 am by Mrs. Peach

Thanks to my super lovely artistic friend, I’ll be having beautiful pew decorations! She made a variety and sent me some pictures of them hanging on our church pews. (Sorry for the bad quality pics- they were taken with her camera phone.)

Now for the hard part… which do I choose? And who best to ask than the weddingbee community! Don’t mind the random colors she chose or the varying fullness of the baby’s breaths. What I have to get back to her with is: what SHAPE I want them, paper COLOR, and ribbon COLOR and THICKNESS. So yeah, what combo do you like best? Or feel free to make up your own! Keep in mind my wedding colors are sage green and white with a accents of peachy pink!

I reall like the round cone, but it all depends on your other shapes. Is your cake have round or square layers? (or something else?) Is your dress very flowy or very angular? Do the lines of the church lend themselves to angular shapes like the rectangle and if they do, then do you want to echo that or counteract it with softer round lines? I like the sage paper and a thicker pink accent ribbon, thick like the last one.

I like the sage paper (will stand out better than peach against the wood) with the peachy/pink ribbon. Definitely the thicker ribbon. I like the double ribbon on the top and bottom of the triangular prism, but I suspect the round cones are the easiest to make and, since they all look nice, you may as well make it as easy as possible on your friend.

I actually like the rectangular prism. However, I think random will be wonderful as well. That’s really creative and looks wonderful!

Half cylinder or cone. Or possibly the random, if you have a lot of pews to work with. If not, then it looks too random, if you see what I mean.

I think the cone has been done a lot, so I vote for the half-cylinder or triangular prism. But I think random would be really cool and different. I also like the ribbon on the top and bottom.

I think that, for the pews you are using, the half-cylinder or the rectangular prism look “right” - a different pew or church might have a different look. Also, you may want to consider a sage-y green paper with a white ribbon, because the other way around looks rather stark.

I like the cone the best, but honestly, any of those would look good. I agree with having slightly darker colored paper with lighter ribbon so it won’t look too stark though.
