I’m A Big Kid Now

February 21st, 2007 @ 1:30 pm by Mrs. Orange

…because I just finished my very first DIY project! It’s no Martha Stewart - I was terrible in art in school and don’t have a “creative” gene anywhere. But with a low-temp glue gun, two packets of swarovski crystals (clear and pink) and few candles, this unity candle will serve just fine for the Orange wedding.

I only hope this encourages other brides who may not be so confident in DIY projects. :)

It’s a running family joke that i cant be trusted around fire, so my father suggested we do a “unity sandwich instead of candles…. FI’s mom puts peanut butter on a slice of bread, my mom does marshmallow fluff, we make the sandwich and eat it. Unfortunately FI thinks it’s a great idea. fortunately both mothers are on my side :)
your candles look great! how did you get the heart so even?

Cessa — I love your unity sandwich idea. Yummy. I tried lining the crystals on the table top before gluing them onto the candle. Another way of doing it (now that I think about it) is to sketch them out and tape a template on the candle :-)
