Precious Ring… My Precious

February 21st, 2007 @ 4:30 pm by Mrs. Orange

I love washing dishes. Don’t know why, but I do. And when I do, I make sure to take off my engagment ring and put it with my “kitty.”

Precious Ring... My Precious : wedding new york rings Img 067

This “kitty,” my FMIL bought for me so that I don’t lose the ring inside the house. She also keeps the ring for the night while I sleep in the other room.

So, where do you keep your ring when you don’t have it on?

that’s so cute! where’d he get it? I could use a ring holder too! i haven’t been wearing my e-ring lately at all because it snags on gloves and i don’t want the stone to fall off. i usually never take it off otherwise, but could use a cool place to keep it now that i’m finally working out again. :)

In a little gold colored jewelry box on my bedside table when I sleep, and in the coin pocket of my jeans when I cook (who wants chicken juice in the crevices? not me!)

Well… Mr. Kiwi got me a jewelry box, and I sometimes use that, but most of the time it’s on my nightstand just sitting there! Shame on me.

I would put in in the same ring box in which he purchased my rings. That’s what he also does with his wedding band.

We have this european looking 12-tea lite candle holder that we used to take up space on the breakfast counter. I always put it in the first one and he puts his in the second when chores call our name.
If I ever have that “OMG my ring!!” moment, I know its there everytime.

Hmm… I think a comment of mine didn’t go through.

On amazon.com you can get a gold or silver cat, dog, or elephant:

and if you search for “ring holder” a bunch of other stuff comes up too!

i love trinket boxes so my FI got me a heart shaped trinket box for me to put my ring in at night. this was after a few ‘the cat got on the nightstand and now i can’t find my ring” mornings. [my cat never swallowed it or carried it off or anything, just pushed it off onto the floor]

The girls at my office bought me a ring holder made of crystal. It looks like a little dish with a tapered pole in the middle to hold the ring. I think they found it at Hallmark.

Is it common to take your ring off at night when you sleep? I keep mine on all the time… showering, doing dishes, playing with acids in the lab, sleeping. Is this bad for my ring?? I’d be afraid of forgetting to put it back on in the morning if I took it off at night, and I don’t think my fiance would be happy if I wasn’t wearing it after he spent so much for it!

I was actually surprised to see others take theirs off too — I thought for sure I was a weird one! But, I can’t sleep with it on…. or lift weights with it on, so when I’m at the gym lifting or sleeping, my ring is waiting restfully in a ceramic flower I made in college pottery class — and where I keep other jewelry I wear pretty frequently.

I am with flip flop…mine never comes off! The first night I had it, before it was sized, I kept it on the porcelain (pansy adorned, a la my sorority flower) ring holder. I think it’s an antique.

I always take my ring off to shower, and for that I put it back in the original box. But I’m an art major, so I’m frequently working with photo chemicals, clay, ink, etc.. that could damage the ring. I’ve started wearing a chain (with a heavy duty clasp!) around my neck that I can put the ring on just while I’m working. I’m more comfortable about that than sticking it in a pocket… what if there’s a hole!

I take my ring and watch off at night, to work out, etc., so I put my ring on my watchband and do up the band. I figure it would be harder to lose my watch than to lose my ring.

We’re sentimental about foods and wines, and have kept a lot of wine/sake bottles over our dating life (and are using them as our centerpiece “vases” for the wedding). I’ve been searching for someplace to put my engagement ring while I cook, do the dishes, or shower - for Valentine’s Day we enjoyed a decadent meal of oysters, giant prawns, rare cheese, sparkling wine, and a jar of caviar. Lo and behold, I discovered the empty, clean jar makes a great ring holder, so I set it on the kitchen windowsill . . . . Now, we just need to have two more jars of caviar so I can put one in each bathroom!

Hmmmm, I didn’t know everyone was so sentimental about where they put their ring when they’re not wearing it! I wear mine most of the time, when I’m sleeping and at the gym included. I do take it off every time I wash my hands and shower though, it’s a stupid hangup I’ve always had with any jewelry but I can’t stand the feeling of the wet jewelry after I’ve already dried off so I take my jewelry off and put it back on after I have dried off. When I take my ring off, it sits on the counter top till I put it back on - nothing special about it!

I just set mine on the bedside table at night and i just tuck it in my pocket during the day when i wash my hands or lotion them, or do dishes or shower or anything that I think could make it dirty or broken. I like the idea of a necklace though. (maybe one of those charm necklaces so that you wouldn’t have to take it off.)
