Ribbons

I really want these Midori satin ribbons, but why are they $50 for a spool of almost 30yds?! That seems ridiculously excessive, no?

That is beautiful ribbon! It does seem expensive. Maybe you could just use it for family member’s gifts, gift to your FI, etc. Do you mind sharing where you found it? Thanks!

It’s Midori satin ribbon - I found it on ebay… I can’t seem to find any other places on the internet that sell it! :(

Actually, the price may be reasonable, depending on the width of the ribbon and whether it’s single- or double-faced… Places like MJ Trimming (http://www.mjtrim.com/catalog/family.aspx?family=09:02) sell satin ribbons from $0.49 to $4.98 per yard!

I’m no Martha Stewart or anything but are there stampers out there where you can stamp the ribbon (ink may bleed though?) You could prob. buy satin ribbon somewhere and custom make the words or something…just an idea! good luck!

http://www.romanticflowers.com has midori ribbon for about the same price as on ebay. when you think about it, though, 27 yards is a lot (but when tying favor boxes it does add up quickly…). I’m in the same boat you are. Have you thought about a cheaper, grosgrain ribbon with no bow and a cute sticker that says je’taime or merci, etc?

i searched for ‘em too. ebay was the cheapest at like 43 dollars, but i saw it up to 56 dollars at another shop. ebay might be your best bet.

Romantic Flowers does have Midori printed ribbon by the yard–maybe you don’t need so much? They have a lot of different sayings, I’m not sure if they have the ones you wanted:

I quite like the “something borrowed” etc. ribbon myself!

And, OMG–Romantic Flowers has ribbon with “Love is in the Air” printed on it, but they seem to be out of it!! Ack! That’s our first dance song! I must have that ribbon…!

(OK, that’s *way* too many exclamation points.)

This isn’t necessarily less expensive (and I’ve never used them before or anything), but you get to write your own message!

How about buying satin ribbon and finding a rubber stamp with Merci or some language on it, and DIY-ing it?

I bought the pink je’taime one at a scrapbook store once - you might want to check around. They might be able to help - maybe you can get it wholesale through a local store?

OK, they do have some of the “Love is in the Air” ribbon left! But…what should I do with it? It’s expensive, so I don’t want to buy too much of it, and they don’t have much left anyway. We’re not doing favors, we’re doing a donation. To tie around the petal cones? Seems like too expensive ribbon for that. Ideas? I was thinking of bows on the place cards, but you probably wouldn’t be able to read it, and, again, not enough ribbon. Not enough to bind the programs, either, as I need to make 85 of them.

What a coincidence! I just saw the “Mon amie” ribbon today at a Paper Zone scrapbooking store–I believe they were selling it by the yard, so that would make Amazon’s price for the spool about right. Paper Zone has a website, but I don’t see the ribbon on there.

And the kicker–the store where I saw it (in CA) had everything 60% off b/c they were closing…
