About Mrs. Strawberry

WWMD?

February 21st, 2007 @ 6:34 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

Some people read the bible before going to bed. I read Martha Stewart Weddings. Before every wedding decision I make, I ask myself, what would Martha do? And then I act accordingly.

When my mom suggested that Mr. Strawberry and I get out silhouettes done for the guest book table or cake table, I didn’t have the foggiest what she was talking about. Evidently, silhouette cutting is an extremely rare art form where an artist cuts a subject’s profile (whether in person or from a photograph) in their exact likeness out of black paper. I dismissed the idea until I stumbled upon this spread in Martha.

What a great way to add a personalized touch to your cake or guest book table, or even your invites!

You can get your own silhouette made by master artist, Karl Johnson at CutArts.com. Hey, if Martha likes him…then he must be good people! Trust in Martha. She won’t lead you astray. :)

A more cost-effective way to do this is using Photoshop or Illustrator to fill in/trace a profile.

Knottie LeCirage did this for a few of her print materials, and the silhouettes do look great!

In LA, you can always visit Disneyland and get your silhouette produced on Main Street. I got one done every year on our visits when I was younger!
