He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. Getting The Perfect Fit

February 24th, 2007 @ 4:52 pm by Mrs. Lemon

Update: I forgot to share the info for my tailor! Here it is:

I went to Hollywood today to visit my dress… and let me just tell you that my beautiful ivory pile of silk has been transformed into a perfect fitting glove for my body. It’s so perfect, in fact, that it’s a bit intimidating. Curve for curve, my body will be on full display at my wedding with nowhere to hide, so I’d best make sure everything that shows looks its best. I’d love to share photos, but sadly Mr. Lemon might spot them.

I was so happy that I found such a wonderful tailor who really understands the construction of clothing rather than simply making alterations to other designs. He worked for Monique Lhuillier (we even shared some laughs about Britney’s dress today) for 5 years before branching out on his own, so he knew everything about my dress before I even brought it to him. I took my mom’s wedding dress in today, and we decided on a design for the rehearsal dinner dress that I wanted to make out of the lace on her gown.

We’re working off of a design something like this, but modified to tea-length with the lace being a wider band:

Hooray!! My mom is going to be so happy when she sees it, and I’ll share teaser pictures in April!

So it looks like my outfitting is almost complete… and 5 months ahead of time! That’s one huge check mark to make on my list! :)

That sounds so lovely! The example dress looks beautiful - can’t wait to see the final product!

Britney’s dress was quite horrendous.

aww–don’t laugh at her. No matter what, she’s still a human. Find merriment in getting the dress of your dreams, not at other’s mistakes or misfortunes.

oh no… we only talked about the dress and how my 6′1 frame would work in something like that… so mainly just mean jokes about myself.

I love that idea Miss Lemon! I’ve been trying to think of a way to incorporate my mom’s dress, too. I think I may just have to steal your idea :-)

Warning about Jose Flores : I had him make a dress for me recently and he completely screwed up on it and then REFUSED to finish it. Now I have unwearable (half done) dress which I already sunk $150 in material in. Completely unprofessional! If anyone has a recommendation for a good dressmaker in Los Angeles, let me know.

@Christine: i don’t know how or why he would do that because i have been going to him since he opened. he made my prom dress, my wedding dress, my sister’s, my cousin’s and my mother in law’s wedding dresses, as well as all the bridesmaid dresses. never had a problem with him at all in all these 6 years.
