Bridesmaid Shower/Luncheon Themes

February 25th, 2007 @ 12:36 am by Mrs. Raspberry

I’m working on planning the luncheon that I’m throwing for my bridesmaids. Room Service Home has the cutest stuff right now. They have all of this Faux Bois Tableware that would be fabulous for a bridesmaid luncheon or shower.

I especially love these little salt and pepper shakers.

You could even make really cute invitations with these stickers from Paper-Source.

My second thought for a luncheon revolves around southern charm. I could throw a garden party (we will be having it outside at my parent’s house) with gorgeous flowers and the food you’d expect at a tea - mini-sandwiches, petit fours, etc.

I found these great mint julep cups at Save-on-Crafts. They’re only $6.19 each, which is a great deal compared to everywhere else I’ve looked. I thought I could fill them with the peonies from my mom’s garden and big bouquets of snapdragons too.

I also really wanted to make these napkin rings from Smith and Hawken:

But they’re $12 for 4, so I realized it’s cheaper to just buy them.

I think this would be a great setting for a relaxing lunch with all of my girls the day before the wedding. I also plan on giving them their goodies at the luncheon.

Have you decided when you will give your bridesmaids their gifts?

oh! my sister did something very similar for her bridesmaids luncheon (the bird idea)! She used a tiny iron bird bath for a centerpeice, filled with bird seed and tea lights, and served fresh strawberries, sanwiches, and homemade lemonade.

We’re not having a formal luncheon, as I just didn’t want to deal with any more adding to the day’s timeline. We do have some friends of my mom bringing us sandwich trays and snacks to have around while we get our hair done and are just waiting to get dressed. I’ll probably do gifts as part of the rehearsal dinner, and FH will give his groomsmen their gifts then as well.

Good to know about the mint julep cups - Do you know specifically where to get them?

Oooops, sorry. Those are the mini ones. The regular sizes run from $5-$6.

They’re so cute. I love the idea of the afternoon tea. I found a recipe for earl grey cupcakes and lavender cupcakes in a little book, and that with gorgeous mis-matched tea sets and linen tablecloths would be so cute and easy to do on the cheap. You could beg borrow and steal everything as it’s supposed to have the worn in shabby look.
Love it!!
