Groom’s Attire

February 27th, 2007 @ 3:06 pm by Mrs. Plum

This past weekend, my FI and I went in search of the perfect groom’s shirt, tie, accessories, etc. We ordered his suit about a month ago from Hugo Boss, and it’s currently in the process of being tailored.

Since hopping on a plane to Savile Row is unrealistic,we headed to our local Nordstrom’s at NorthPark Center. We decided on an ivory tie with an ivory tailored shirt. We ordered a custom shirt from Nordstrom’s great tailoring service and picked up a silk tie with tiny black stripes going across it - I’ll find a picture later.

Anyways, for custom tailored shirts at a ridiculously cheap price (well, as good as you can get in America), check out Nordstrom! For my FI’s shirt, we got to pick all of the options from the Egyptian cotton fabric, the type of buttons, the french cuff, the top-stitching, the french front, the type of collar, etc. for around $154.

Sigh, how I would love to be able to convince my fiance that a custom made $154 shirt would be worth it at Nordstroms. We’re talking about the man that cringes when he has to buy any clothes that are not on the $15 or less rack at Target. (and that’s been a struggle since we’ve started dating to get there, before it was Bob’s or the Salvation Army). Of course, the shirts/ties/etc he’s gotten as gifts from myself or my mother he looooves. Where did they come from? Nordstroms. Sigh.

thistle - I tooootally hear you - my FI was much like that before I came along as well - he’d wear anything that cost like $5 on clearance at Target, complaining how “designer” shirts were the same thing with another tag in it-
but now he only wears “nice” shirts that I bought him and convinced him were “worth it” - now, he’s a shirt snob and wont buy the clearance ones unless its just to wear around the house/fix the car. LOL -boys :-p

Besides - tell him it’s his wedding day too - he should get something really nice to wear on one of the most important days in his life, right? :)

LOL I wish. The response would be something like this: “Honey, what matters to me is marrying you, not wearing a fancy shirt.” Which is a beautiful response and it’s why I’m marrying this man, but geez. LOL …

Last night at dinner with his parents, his Dad (which is where he gets this traight, they’re frugal scots by blood) even mentioned - “haven’t I seen you in that shirt since you were in high school? I think it may be time to give it up!” hehe, no kidding.
