Why? Because sometimes I am way too much of an eager beaver. Ah well, I’ve been blessed with lots of empty closet space at my mom’s to store it. As promised in my last veil entry, here is the finished product:

Since they were all within a couple of dollars of each other, I decided to pay Candi at Crowning Glory Veils a visit as I’m often in the vicinity of North OC. I hadn’t gotten a chance to try on veils with my dress since I bought it pre-owned online. I highly recommend you try on different lengths, edge details, and cuts (cascade vs. circular vs. oval) WITH your dress.

In my case, my first instinct was right, and I ended up liking the simplest drop veil the best. However, it was really helpful to at least try other styles to see what worked, what didn’t, and which length I wanted. While there, I decided on something crazy like 108″ overall, but then realized klutzy me WILL step on it or get tangled up in it on the day of. When I called a day or two later to change my order, she was very accommodating even though she had already started to cut my veil.

“$40 for a piece of cut tulle?” you ask? Well, I am very challenged in the fabric/sewing department, don’t have room to lay out that much tulle, and don’t have the steadiest hand with scissors (an X-acto is an entirely different story). Yes, you can find simple veils for $10-20 on ebay and in the downtown fashion district, but it’s very difficult to find drop veils in those places.

Candi was very responsive via both phone and email, she made my veil in less than a week, and she is very nice as well. We had a lot of fun playing dress up in my dress (it was very helpful to try it all on together, but you don’t have to bring or try on your dress). Mine is super simple, but she can do highly embellished, custom veils for very reasonable prices as well. Want a lacy, beaded confection to match your dress without the bridal salon price? Candi can do it. She was working on the most intricate veil with a lace border when I came to pick up mine. She can also do pearls, scattered crystals, pretty much anything you’d want, and wee first communion veils for your little one. I squealed when I saw the mini veils. I <3 anything mini. Anyway, I digress…

[Storage + Care Tips]
For those of you who might be storing a veil because you purchased too early (like me), are borrowing an heirloom one, or want to store your veil nicely after the wedding, here are a few tips that Candi attached to my veil (well, the plastic cover).

Caring for your Veil

• Don’t leave your veil covered in plastic. It takes out the fullness and may cause the veil to discolor.
• If you need to store your veil before your wedding, a paper sleeve over the hanger will keep dust off of it.
• If your veil wrinkles or flattens, here are some tips to restore it:

• Unpin it from the hanger and give it a good shake.
• Hang it in a steamed bathroom. Don’t touch the veil while it’s damp as it can take the body out of the fabric.
• Mist it LIGHTLY with water and use your blowdryer set on LOW HEAT to dry it. This will take out wrinkles and restore the original fullness.
