O Cupcake Tree, O Cupcake Tree…

February 27th, 2007 @ 12:26 pm by Mrs. Peach

How lovely is your frosting~ Lalala~ I have finally decided to go with a cupcake tree instead of a wedding cake. I really wanted to do these super-yummo-best-anythingcloseto-muffins-cupcakes-in-the-world peach muffins especially offered by Folks Southern Kitchen Restaurant (I called and they offered to cater them for the wedding), but in the end I decided against them because the cupcake tree would look to plain. (You just can’t add frosting to those muffins!)

So yeah, I will be getting cupcakes from Publix bakery- a *GASP* super market. ^_^ They offer cupcakes at an AMAZING price! So far my favorite inspiration has come from an Austrailian company called A Piece of Cake. Granted, Publix probably can’t duplicate the quality of those cupcakes, but at least I have something to work with.

This one’s my fav:

I have to provide the cupcake stand… and I’ve found a few at a pretty good prices. Creative Bakeware and Cakes also had helpful hints on how to jazz up your cupcake tree. I need to think more about this one. Anyone have some cool ideas they wanna share? This southern theme is a tricky one…

I love it! If you still want the muffins you could use them too, and alternate muffins and cupcakes!

We are doing the same at our wedding, only we are going with a local cake designer who makes incredibly unique flavors. She’s working my Southern-ness into our cupcake tree, too!

Miss Peach– some may not realize that Publix’s bakery is not a force to be reckoned with. :)

I haven’t ordered from this company yet, but the website shows they make pretty icing flowers that you could put on regular iced cupcakes to fancy them up.

Target has some cute cupcake holders…depending on the amount of quests you have, they could be cute

I know Michael’s and Hobby Lobby have a section in their stores dedicated to baking and such. Almost every week, Hobby Lobby has a 40%-off-one-item coupon on their Web site. I’ve seen a cupcake tree in their stores that might work. It’s relatively plain, but I think it gives you the option to DIY and make it cute. Or, you could spruce up the cake table itself. Of course, there’s always the build-your-own DIY project, but that might be too much to attack when there are so many already assembled out there.

Having done the cupcake thing and thinking back on it, I wish I was more creative in their arrangement. I thought they would have to be on a stand/tree thing for some reason but there are so many other ways to present them. For example, rows or lines of cupcakes on long skinny platters to make stripes. Or, 9 to 12 on square plates to make “tiles” which could look cool if you have one flavor or color per plate.

Check out cupcaketree.com. They have lots of good example pictures. My only concern is that I have a sugar cookie in a cute shape on top of my cupcake, and I think it might be too tall for this stand. Any other suggestsions for neat ways to display cupcakes? Maybe the typical wedding cake shape is getting boring…?
