Sample Sales Have More Than Dresses

February 27th, 2007 @ 4:37 pm by Mrs. Lemon

Hello, my name is Miss Lemon and I have been addicted to sample sales for the past ten years. It started with a simple flier posted on my college campus and a few Saturday sales, and then it grew into a weekly obsession spanning both coasts. I thought I could keep my obsession under wraps, but then they introduced online sample sales! And when it came to bridal bargains… how could I even think to stay away!

My first sample sale bargain was my dress… the holy grail of all wedding bargains. I had tried on multiple dresses last May and June in front of my friends, and found “the one” at Monique Lhuillier. Sadly, when I got the price card (which is still in my desk on right now) the grand total added up to $7000 with taxes and alterations. I pondered the situation over some gelato, where my friends promptly convinced me that dress was “the one”… but I knew that my coupon-clipping heart couldn’t stand to make that big of a splurge.

So I did what any budget savvy fashionista would do… I waited for a sale. ML happens to have 2 sample sales every year, so at best I would have two chances to snag my dress. Fast forward to mid-July, and as I gently scoured the racks and racks of dresses, I saw the sweetheart neckline and my knees fell weak. The price tag was even better… almost $5000 cheaper than full price. All it took was another quick try-on, a detailed examination of every inch of the dress (it was practically brand new!), a quick swipe of the credit card and it was mine! BWAHAHAHAHA!

But was I done… oh no… I had to go back to the sale in December for my accessories!

I asked for a cathedral length veil, and this gorgeous one ended up in my hands for the incredible bargain of $75! Sure it needed a little bit of spot cleaning on the underside of the ribbon… but for that price, I’ll take it any day!

I’m really going to miss my deep bridal discounts, but you only need so many veils and dresses… which in my case is 1 of each. Perhaps someone else would like to continue in my footsteps?
