Hair Trial Pics!

February 28th, 2007 @ 10:26 am by Mrs. Bluebell

It’s time to post some pictures from my hair trial weekend before last!

My mom’s third cousin’s wife’s sister has a small hair salon in her house in the ridiculously miniscule town where we’re getting married. So I don’t even have to pay for travel, like I was expecting to! Plus, she’s super nice and did (I think) a faaabulous job! This is obviously a less-finished version than the final will be, but she totally captured the essence of what I wanted!

First: here’s the printout I gave her of hairstyles that I like:
hairideascollagepn0.jpg

And here’s what she came up with!
//img410.imageshack.us/img410/4372/weddinghair4ez3

//img253.imageshack.us/img253/7647/weddinghair1nd2

//img253.imageshack.us/img253/6892/weddinghair2yd8

//img405.imageshack.us/img405/9345/weddinghair3qc5

//img410.imageshack.us/img410/8307/weddinghair5pm7

The random curl on the left side of my head was just because she initially left more hanging down the front than we decided was appropriate, so she thought she’d try pinning it up a fun way instead of just incorporating it to the rest of the look. I think it’s cute, but after looking at the pictures, have decided that I won’t do it for the actual wedding.

I also want the bottom curls to be slightly tighter as a couple of them came undone fairly soon after the trial. A lot of that is my fault though, since not 20 minutes after we got back from my hair trial I put on a ski hat and went snowshoeing. Ohhh well. :-) I still kept the hair pinned for the rest of the night, and it really didn’t get that beat up! She also left a few bobby pins visible but would clearly neaten that up for the day of as well.

So, anyone have any other thoughts? I’m just soooo happy that I found someone able to capture the general aesthetic I wanted (loose & romantic, not too tight or polished), who also happens to be so nearby, likeable and almost-related to me! :-)

So cute! Can you give me an idea of how long your hair is when down? I’m trying to decide how well some of these styles will work for me. Thanks!

I think it’s very cute! I also would go without the little side piece, it’s a little distracting. Overall, very cute, and very “romantic” looking!

I think it looks wonderful.
I think you might like it more if it had a little bit of height (..or as I would call it ‘poof’) towards the top of your head. I think its the one thing missing that the pictures you provided had.

YAY thanks everyone!! :-D

Emily - my hair is an inch or two past my shoulders, so really not that long! I was worried I might not be able to do a fancy updo but she said it would be plenty and it does appear to be! My hair is pretty thick though, not sure if that makes a difference.

Hannah - that’s so funny that you say that! My one thought looking at the head-on photos (none of which I posted obviously) was that there was a little too MUCH poof! I guess I’m just not a pro-poof person, hehe.

Looks great! Did it feel loose at all? Mission accomplished if that was the look you were going for–it doesn’t look like a rock. :-) Very sweet and romantic!

Love it! May I ask if your hair is naturally straight or curly? Because I love curls but my hair is poker straight and I’m curious to know if this look can be done on straight hair. I can’t have loose curly hair because I know from past experience that the curl will fall out within about half an hour… so this might be just the thing!!

Hehe thanks Miss Peach!

Wsukarebear - it didn’t feel loose AT ALL, it was actually really bizarre how solid my head felt!!

Laura - my hair is naturally a bit wavy, so when she blow dried it out it became pretty much straight, so I think the loose curl hanging down is the only one that’s a natural curl - all the stuff in the back was manually curled and pinned into place, so I think it would work fine for straight hair!

Miss Bluebell, I love your hair too! Soo cute.

Where are you getting married? I am thinking about getting married in Washingtonville, NY (also a tiny town) and am wondering where I might find someone to do my hair.

P.S. Your fiance is too cute :)

Thanks guys!! :-D

Joan - sorry but I looked up Washingtonville and you’re about 5 hours south of where my wedding is! So I don’t think you can use my hair woman. :-(

Kesm - The blonde woman with the most pictures is knottie djrs who I saw linked in one of the Knotties of the Week posts a while ago. The brown hair is Jessica Alba from some award show - I saw a picture somewhere and then googled her name until I could find more from that same event. And the pink flower one is from a hair bio someone posted…I really don’t remember where but I’m pretty sure it was from weddingbee a couple months ago? Sorry I can’t be of more help!

Bonnie - oh good!! Glad to help, and good luck with yours!! :-)
