Words Of Advice

February 28th, 2007 @ 6:16 pm by Mrs. Strawberry

Besides doing a photo guest book, Mr. Strawberry and I will also be having a wish jar/wish tree. I was inspired to have my own made after seeing these cards, instead of blank pieces of paper. They are about the size of business cards and I simply can’t wait to see what guests write!

Oh my gosh, my fiance has some competition now because I just fell in love with those cards. We are SO getting those for our wedding and I LOVE the way they’re set up in photo #2.

I loved, loved loved my wishing tree! I’d attach a pic if I knew how … My florist used willow branches in a clear glass cylinder. She wired a few orchids to the willow. I supplied the cards — I made the cards on gold parchment cardstock and printed love-related words on them (using powerpoint and my trusty HP C4150) — in the same font as my programs/invites/etc. I punch heart-shaped holes in them and threaded them with ribbon. Advice — don’t tie the ribbon, since it’s easier for the guests to tie them on themselves. It was easy and gorgeous!!

very cute cards! we did a polaroid wishbowl with cards from papersource, and i loved reading all the words of wisdom from our guests! the ones who had been married the longest gave the best advice. :)

One of my favorite weddings was on the senate floor at the capital building in Madison. When we got to the reception site, there was a “ballot” at each seat, asking people to “vote” on “Best ways to solve a disagreement”, “Best ways to make up”, etc. It was so cute and fun to do when we first sat down!

Your cards are adorable! But what are you going to do with them after the wedding? We’re going to do a wish bowl, and I thought I’d get little cards and matching envelopes from Paper Source, and then mount the envelopes fold-side-out in a album, with the cards inside, so they can be taken out and read at our leisure. Nearly all of our wedding printed material is in various weights and permutations of Paper Source’s “butter,” but I don’t want the wish book to be all yellow, so I thought I might mix butter and maybe the pale “bluebell” color in their 4 Bar cards and matching envelopes. (My other wedding color is navy.) Very likely I’ll use this big lovely bowl from Crate and Barrel to hold the finished cards. After the wedding, it would be a useful and decorative thing for our home.

Kymberli–that’s an old-fashioned bulb forcing vase, I believe. The picture’s from an old Martha Stewart Weddings, from 1999 or so. Smith and Hawken had the exact same vase around Christmastime, but it was marked down and is now gone in my local store. But maybe in their clearance center or on eBay?

pencils — so funny! I’m doing the same thing… kind of to mimic my favorite children’s book “the Jolly Postman” — and with blue/gold envelopes! :) great minds think alike!

I love the idea of the wishing tree my matron of honor suggested that since I am having a leaf color theme. Thank you for all the insight!
