It’s time to post some pictures from my hair trial weekend before last!
My mom’s third cousin’s wife’s sister has a small hair salon in her house in the ridiculously miniscule town where we’re getting married. So I don’t even have to pay for travel, like I was expecting to! Plus, she’s super nice and did (I think) a faaabulous job! This is obviously a less-finished version than the final will be, but she totally captured the essence of what I wanted!
First: here’s the printout I gave her of hairstyles that I like:

For our table names, we’re using pictures of us at all the special places we’ve been to. I’m cropping the pictures into squares and typing the name of the place on the picture. As an added bonus, I’m turning the pictures into our wedding colors. A couple of people have asked me how to get your picture monochromatic using Photoshop. So here’s the 4-1-1. (Note: This isn’t actually my wedding color but it was when I made it. Another sample in my actual wedding color is at the very end of the post)

Remember we have a complete list of ongoing promotions, trunk shows, and sales under the “trunkshows” link in the righthand column.

I am really upset right now.
A little bit of background info:
Mr. Blueberry’s cousin lives in Texas. He’s married and has an adorable little boy. We were happy to ask his boy to be our ring bearer, and were honored when his mom said yes. We were all very excited about having him be part of our big day.
So last night Mr. Blueberry gets a call from his parents. Apparently, our ringbearer’s mom found out that I’m not religious, and now she doesn’t want her little boy participating in our wedding. I’m not even sure what their religious beliefs are. She found out when our ringbearer’s grandparents (Mr. Blueberry’s aunt and uncle) went to visit, and happened to mention that I’m not religious. I don’t even know how the topic came up.
But now that they know I’m a big bad scary atheist, they can’t possibly expose their child to my evil ways. No, they don’t want their son to have a fun role participating in a 10-minute secular ceremony, something he was apparently very excited about.
Now we have LED cufflinks! Yes, all you grooms our there who want to drive your bride wild (With anger? Humor? Embarrassment? Amazement?) on your wedding day, now there are cufflinks with LED lights inside of them.

For $149.99 a pair, you can get your groom (or yourself if you’re one of those lurking guys we know are here
) a set of cufflinks in these finishes: stainless steel, brushed or polished. The ikuffs come in a chrome covered cufflink box along with two extra replacement batteries. Available in an array of colors: Fusion Red, Sunset Orange, Electric Yellow, Money Green, KuL Blue and Winter White, there’s a link to match all weddings! (hehehe)

One of the major highlights of our wedding was the food. Not that I had too much of it, but people were raving all night long about the utter delicious-ness of absolutely everything. We used a caterer from LA called Savore. They were unbelievable to work with, full of amazing ideas and, the food was really over the top spectacular.
In truth, I had never been to a wedding before where the food was really good, so this was a new experience for me. My one major regret/complaint is that no one made us a doggie bag. You really do get so caught up in the evening, talking to everyone, and not wanting to mess up your lipstick (ok, at least I did), and by the time you turn around it’s all over. We got back to our hotel well after midnight (which was after they had stopped serving room service), and we were so hungry we had to make a run to a vending machine.
After meeting with my videographer yesterday, he sent me this amazing clip by Jason Magbanua. He taped a wedding with his Nokia N93 - yes that’s right a cell phone! Amazing! It’s better than some wedding videos I’ve seen!
Hello, my name is Miss Lemon and I have been addicted to sample sales for the past ten years. It started with a simple flier posted on my college campus and a few Saturday sales, and then it grew into a weekly obsession spanning both coasts. I thought I could keep my obsession under wraps, but then they introduced online sample sales! And when it came to bridal bargains… how could I even think to stay away!
My first sample sale bargain was my dress… the holy grail of all wedding bargains. I had tried on multiple dresses last May and June in front of my friends, and found “the one” at Monique Lhuillier. Sadly, when I got the price card (which is still in my desk on right now) the grand total added up to $7000 with taxes and alterations. I pondered the situation over some gelato, where my friends promptly convinced me that dress was “the one”… but I knew that my coupon-clipping heart couldn’t stand to make that big of a splurge.
So I did what any budget savvy fashionista would do… I waited for a sale. ML happens to have 2 sample sales every year, so at best I would have two chances to snag my dress. Fast forward to mid-July, and as I gently scoured the racks and racks of dresses, I saw the sweetheart neckline and my knees fell weak. The price tag was even better… almost $5000 cheaper than full price. All it took was another quick try-on, a detailed examination of every inch of the dress (it was practically brand new!), a quick swipe of the credit card and it was mine! BWAHAHAHAHA!
I have a question for the hive. What’s a graceful way of offering entree selections on the RSVP, so that a number is entered for each type of entree and the total is one entree per guest attending? I’m afraid that if I use blank lines with each selection that they would place checks on the lines rather than write numbers, or they would write numbers but the total will not match the number of people attending. All I could come up with is this:
*Entree selection:
Number of Chicken Entrees _______
Number of Fish Entrees _______
Number of Vegetarian Entrees _______
Number of **Kids Meals _______
*Total number of entrees should match Number Attending
**Children 12 years of age or under
Is this okay?

In the world of stationery, it seems to be all about personalization right now–calling cards, couple crests for invitations or even custom produced handmade paper. True, I’m a bit biased, but I think stationery is one of the best, universal gifts out there. I’m particularly enamored with a little company here in New York called City Writes.
Kari Jo Cates is the super creative lady behind the City Writes curtain, and, in my opinion, she takes “personalized” to a whole new level. City Writes offers hand calligraphed social stationery, announcements, luggage tags, invites and more. Since each card is done by hand, they are all a teeny, tiny bit different, and yet charmingly adorable and sweet. I think this makes a fantastic gift for your bridesmaids, your new mother-in-law or even as a special vendor thank you (if time allows, I also like to use these as a great hostess thank you gift). Best of all, you can order smaller quantities and the prices are very reasonable (8 cards for $18.50; 25 cards for $52). Kari Jo will also hand calligraph envelopes for your invites or placecards.
Since I haven’t been feeling very well, I haven’t been doing anything related to the wedding. Sorry.
But, as I was pondering our weekend plans, I thought about my second favorite place in the world: The Los Angeles Natural History Museum. My dad and I used to go every other weekend sometimes - and this was just a few short years ago, not just when I was younger!
When we first got engaged, this was the first place I looked. They have various rooms for use for special events.
This Rotunda, is by far the most beautiful. The fee to rent here is $3,000.00, and this does not include catering, but does include the chairs and tables. Catering is done exclusively by Wolfgang Puck catering.
This past weekend, my FI and I went in search of the perfect groom’s shirt, tie, accessories, etc. We ordered his suit about a month ago from Hugo Boss, and it’s currently in the process of being tailored.

Since hopping on a plane to Savile Row is unrealistic,we headed to our local Nordstrom’s at NorthPark Center. We decided on an ivory tie with an ivory tailored shirt. We ordered a custom shirt from Nordstrom’s great tailoring service and picked up a silk tie with tiny black stripes going across it - I’ll find a picture later.
Anyways, for custom tailored shirts at a ridiculously cheap price (well, as good as you can get in America), check out Nordstrom! For my FI’s shirt, we got to pick all of the options from the Egyptian cotton fabric, the type of buttons, the french cuff, the top-stitching, the french front, the type of collar, etc. for around $154.
We finalized the menu the first week of February, but I waited till 18 days before the wedding to print the menu with my finicky Epson inkjet printer.
3-4 menus/table x 15 tables = approx. 45. Took 2 hours to print.
The text is in dark brown (which matches the invite and place card) and the fonts are those used in the invite as well (Script: Carlotta Block: Garamond). On the top is a diagram of how to make a paper crane (which will again match the invite and the place card).

Why? Because sometimes I am way too much of an eager beaver. Ah well, I’ve been blessed with lots of empty closet space at my mom’s to store it. As promised in my last veil entry, here is the finished product:
Sorry, no shots with it on as I have no one around to help at this hour.
