He proposed exactly 1 year, 1 month and 6 days after our first date (it's the only part of his proposal speech that I remember), and we're planning long-distance from Los Angeles for a July wedding in my hometown of Monterey, CA. Decorating With Shadows

Decorating With Shadows : wedding los angeles Lumen B2.jpg

I saw Adam Frank’s LUMEN candles early last year, and although I wanted desperately to buy them, I didn’t have a blank wall to bounce the shadows upon. However, can you imagine the amazing effect this would produce on a plain reception room wall! Each candle burns for 17-hours and they are $48 each, a bargain compared to hiring a lighting designer for a similar effect.

I bet this could be DIY’d…just have to figure out how.

If I finish all my KC projects early I may give this a shot :-D

Very unique and artful…that would create an amazing mood with the appropriate (fall?) wedding!

I received one of these (specifically the one with the birds) as a gift. While it is really cool, you basically would need pitch blackness to get a really strong shadow. It doesn’t really make a great shadow even when I have all the lights out in my NYC apartment b/c of the outside light coming in through the window. So I don’t think it would work that well in a reception room. They are cool and I look forward to using it when I live somewhere darker!

i was just going to say what ajf said.

a small little tealight/candle won’t cast a shadow if theres ambiant light in the room. so mostly likely won’t work for a wedding reception unless you have uplights directed at it or something.

It is not a tealight…

It is an oil lamp.

Funnily enough, it was their wedding issue too!
