Reader Buzz: The Best Part

March 2nd, 2007 @ 7:00 pm by Reader Buzz

While we were having lunch today, Mr. Bee asked me what my favorite part of being married was. I said 1) Having a BFF since I tell him everything, and 2) Having someone to help each other get through the difficult times in life. Mr. Bee on the other hand said that he likes having someone to take care of (me!)… so I guess it works out perfectly. :)

What’s your favorite part of being engaged or married?

I got engaged two months ago, and my favourite part has been the freedom that came with being able to plan out the next few years. Before he proposed, it was all up in the air because I didn’t know if or when he would propose or when we’d get married and therefore when we might be able to have kids, and the uncertainty of the future was causing me unbelievable stress. But I’m too traditional to propose to him myself just to get rid of the problem, I knew I wanted the experience of having him ask me to marry him. So I waited. And waited. And I was rewarded :) I feel relieved and elated that now I know for sure he wants to be with me forever.

We support each other through good times & in bad, in sickness & in health, until death due us part. :-) He also is my BFF. I talk to him about everything, even restroom stories that he doesn’t want to hear about.

My favourite part being engaged:
Having those butterfly moments thinking about being a “wife”. and finally being married to the man of my dreams. ahha so cheesy, i know!

My favorite part of being enaged:

Having a “go-to” person. My FI is someone I know is always going to be there no matter what the need. Emergency contact? Someone to be goofy with? Someone who will calm me down after I have a ridiculous nightmare? He’s my “go-to” guy, my BFF and I can’t wait to start building our life together.

I recently got engaged and we are doing a long distance relationship. He lives in Seattle and I live in New York. I think one of the greatest things about being married will be being able to see each other every day.

Hi,
I am a writer for the NY Times, doing a story about wedding books, and how there are SOOO many out there! I am looking to interview a bride–or a groom–who has bought a lot of books and thought you might be able to either be a source or point me in the right direction. I am trying to figure out why there are so many bokos on so many subjects–and why are people willing to pay for books when they can buy magazines?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks!

Best,
Abby Ellin

I would have to say that I’ve finally found my”home” When he holds me I feel completely safe and at peace. Knowing that I will always have that wonderful feeling has given me such strength. Two weeks after we became engaged my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, my whole world seemed to fall apart and I feel so lucky to have his love to keep me together. Plus he’s my best friend so when I shut down and wouldn’t get out of my PJs for a week, he sat with me watching crap TV and eating cookie dough.

The best and worst part of being engaged is the anticipation of the big day… we are a little less than 5 months away from saying “I do” and it’s getting harder and harder to say goodnight and go our separate ways every day… *sigh*

the best part is i am loved deeply even when he’s seen my worst. there’s so much freedom from having that committed love.
