Dirty Dancing First Dance

March 6th, 2007 @ 9:30 am by Mrs. Bee

Reader Jen B sent us a link to this video of a UK couple dancing to Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing.

We previously featured a video of an entire wedding party dancing to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. These themed dances seem to be more and more popular, and they’re sure fire crowd pleasers. Are you planning any themed or unique dances at your reception?

This is awesome. I wasn’t planning on doing a themed dance, but I might have to reconsider. Hilarious.

This is hilarious! I actually heard the song last week and played with the idea of doing something like that. Unfortunately my dress is a bit too form fitting to be able to dance dirty. sigh. But my fiance and his buddies would have loved to be a part of it. haha.

I love it! Too bad my FI isn’t as excited about it as I am… :(

we are dancing salsa for both our maui and nyc weddings and i’m dancing hula for our maui one. for our first dance, we will be dancing Tu Amor by RBD and our wedding singer will be changing the spanish parts to chinese to appeal to the english and chinese speaking. also, we are trying to see if we could get some chinese dragon dancing to do traditional and some hip hop. =D

I would love to do a choreographed, not necessarily themed dance. I don’t think our BP would be up for it. Great people, but not performers. :-)

Knottie IAM4UK had a great “Price is Right” entrance that I love!

People either love or hate this idea. It can be divisive. ;-)

We are going to salsa dance at ours. All my close friends know that my FI and I have learned to salsa but the majority of the guests don’t know, so it will be a surprise. So what we’re going to do is actually pick a typical first dance song and start off dancing a regular first dance, but we’ll do some sound editing so that halfway through the song you hear that “record screeching to a halt” sound and then it’ll go directly into an upbeat Latin tempo song and we’ll salsa for the rest of the first dance. I think it’ll be a blast! My biggest concern actually is my dress and how the hell I’m going to salsa in it. The sales clerks keep telling me it will work perfectly when it’s bustled in the back. I think I better practice a few times!

I don’t know…that looked too cheesy for me. But I’ve seen people do a rumba, foxtrot and salsa dance and that was so great to see!

My fiance and I had planned on dancing lindy hop (mixed with hip hop), inspired by the movie “Idlewild”. Trouble is, we went to one lesson and never went back. We’re planning on learning from DVDs and doing it for one of our dances (just not the first).
I’m still having difficulty choosing a song for the first, second dance…

We’re going to do a swing dance to “Sing Sing Sing” for our first dance. It’s the only type of dancing that my fiance semi-enjoys and he’s pretty good at it! We knew the basics, but have learned a lot of new moves from a DVD, and we practice once a week…4 months to go.

Aww…that is a pretty good re-enactment of the dance! I started to get emotional! Definitely a touching way to make your wedding unique.

MISS PEACH should totally do a dirty south dance. Like Walk It Out, Chicken Noodle Soup, or Snap Yo Fingers. Haha, I know my bf would love that.

These. People. Are. My. Heroes.

I was joking about doing this routine with my imaginary husband YEARS ago, long before I met Matt. I was going to teach the bridal party the whole “coming up the aisle” dance and everything.

Sigh … FI won’t do it, and now that the time is getting closer, I’m less inclined.

Thanks for posting this, made my day!
