Gold Bridesmaid Shoes

March 6th, 2007 @ 1:00 pm by Mrs. Raspberry

I am partially stumped.

I wanted to find great shoes for the bridesmaids that are:

  • Gold
  • Strappy
  • Sandals
  • Cute!

…and I have found this to be a hard task.

Normally, my bridesmaids would drop a good amount for a nice pair of shoes, but with all of the money they’re spending on other things (most of them are traveling for our wedding, the hotel room, bridal showers, etc…) I was really trying to find something super cheap for their shoes. I thought it would be nice if they all matched as their dresses will be tea length and the shoes will show.

Here are a couple of my favorites that were out of the price range…
zappos.jpg
Anne Klein - $253 on Zappos
1396-338586-d.jpg
Kate Spade - $278 on Zappos
_5317276.jpg

Lauren by Ralph Lauren - $134.95 on Nordstroms

GRRR!!!

Then I came across these at Target….

target_1.jpg

They are cute; I don’t know that they are dressy enough or how they would look with the tea length dresses, but I would totally wear them for work… and they are only $19.99!!! What do you think?

Did you pick one style and have all of your bridesmaids wear the same shoes, or did you just set a color and style and let them pick their own?

I think they are fabulous and would be SUPER cute with a tea length dress!

I really like the Target shoes–super cute–and I think they’d look great with tea-length dresses. However, check with your bridesmaids. A pair of gold strappy sandals are something that would go with a lot of things and they may be ok with paying a little bit more.

Those shoes are great! What a find! I also have seen some good strappy gold shoes on Smartbargains.com. Good luck!

I’m letting my 2 girls choose whatever they want! One suffers from chronic pain in her leg, so she’ll likely wear flats or low heels, and the other is my 17-year-old cousin who is way more fashion-forward than I am - and I don’t really care if they’re all matching or not - it’s not a priority for me!

All of those shoes you posted look really cute!

I like the Target ones too, did you try Famous Footwear online. You can search by color…

9 West had some. But one reviewer said they weren’t good for dancing. Good price at $69

I like the Target ones.. get them before they sell out. Even if you change your mind.

The considerate thing to do would be to let your girls pick their own shoes of a particular color and style.

It would be unlikely that one shoe will fit comfortably on all of your bridesmaids. Consider their different needs for width, arch, ankle support, etc and preferences for heel height.

Personally, if I were your bm and you asked me to wear that pair for your wedding, there would be a risk that I trip or twist my ankle. I NEED ankle straps with that heel height! (slingbacks and pump support always slip out. maybe my heel is shaped funny)

I’d rather wear an ugly bm dress that’s unflattering than have to wear shoes that are uncomfortable.

My girls just bought gold Nina strappy sandels — they were $70. Check outmy knot bio to see them (click on my name).

I like the Target ones BETTER than the ridiculously-expensive ones (I’d die if I spent that much on a pair of shoes!). But really, I think the Target ones are cuter and I think they’d look perfect.

Hi Miss Raspberry. My bridesmaids are wearing gold sandals too. I was stumped when it came down to finding a pair that was cute… In any case, after weeks of searching every shoe store known to mankind, I found these two and they are each $69. They are super cute in person and the BM will be picking one of the 2 styles below.

ALDO: $69: in Gold: 4″
http://www.aldoshoes.com/eng/storeSection/redirect.cfm?sectionID=b2c/style/productDetails.cfm&itemID=64405007&&var=d&ckey=US

NINE WEST: $69: in Gold: 2 3/4″
http://www.ninewest.com/n/browse/product.s?productId=8117&source=category&index=0&prodIndex=0&listSize=4

The only reason why I picked 2 and not 1 style is because some of the gals can’t walk in anything higher than a 4″ heel so for those ladies, the Nine West would work and for the brave ladies that can walk around in 4″ heels, they have the ALDO shoe to get. Both are $69 and after seeing both in person, I have to say that they were both super cute. Hope this helps?

I told my girls, who are wearing knee-length dresses, to pick the gold strappy sandals of their choice. No one is going to notice your bridesmaids’ feet, and if they do they won’t care if they’re wearing different shoes as long as they’re all somewhat similar. Let them pick their own!

I am making all the girls wear the same. It is a distraction when I see tea legnth dresses and all these random shoes. But I think you should go back to nordstroms and check out the BP shoes. Here is one I saw. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/2877079/0~2376778~2372808~2377035~2379517?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=2379517&P=1

Do you have an independent shoe store that is similar to DSW in that it carries discount name-brand shoes? I have a store like that locally and got a pair of gold nina shoes for $20. Dig around. They may look like dives, but they are gold mines.

The Target shoes are fantastic! If you have a Loehmann’s or Loehmann’s Shoes you’d find some fantastic shoes. I got BCBG sandals in gold for my wedding shoes … only $70! You could just let each girl pick their shoes with a few “suggestions” as each girl’s feet are unique and one style that may work for most may not work for all or be comfortable with a particular heel height. You could compile a list of what you think would be the perfect shoes of varying prices and let the girls pick their individual shoe. If the dresses are matching then different shoes could be their way of being unique to themselves. It’s ultimately up to you.

I was actually planning to buy those Target ones for myself– in red! I was going to wear them for the day of…

As for my BMs, their dresses are long cocktails– to the floor, so I’m letting wear whatever shoes they want. In your case I think it would be super cute for them to match since everyone will see them in tea length dresses but I don’t think it’s necessarily a “must.”

They are super cute, but shoes are very specific. What is comfortable to one person could cause excrutiating pain in the next. I would pick a color, give them the pictures you’ve found, and have them choose thier own. NO ONE will notice the bridesmaids’ feet - they will be too busy looking at you!

Also, as someone who has been a bridesmaid 12 times in 12 different pairs of shoes - I always had more fun at the weddings where I got to choose my own shoes!

I am against the matching shoes. With all of the variations in feet there is no way to find something that’s comfortable for everyone. Some girls love stilettos, others want a kitten heel, someone’s going to have a bunion…. I think that a mix looks much more modern and fresh and your wedding party can decide how much they want to spend.

I had all my girls have the same shoes to coordinate with their dresses. I gave them the links and everything. Luckily for me, in the planning process the price went down.

Chose a dress and let them choose their shoes. I didn’t specify color or cut. I figured my BMs have been successfully dressing themselves for years, so even choosing the dress was a little weird for me.

My dresses were also tea-length.

I’m doing gold strappy too! I think the Nine West Accolia is comfortable (shoes in Suzi’s comment). I own a black pair and wore those to a wedding.

The target ones are cute but I would be afraid of them hurting the feet of your bridesmaids. I had to wear the most uncomfortable shoes for a weading once and that is all I can remember from being in that wedding.

Those are super cute shoes….so cute, in fact, that I just ordered the red ones last week! You might also check out Payless.com for some cheaper alternatives.

Those Target shoes are cute! I think they’d look adorable with a tea length dress, but maybe you should check out the material to see if it would go with the dresses.

Miss Raspberry, I think those Target ones are cute, and definitely wearable afterwards!

However you also asked whether we’re specifying shoes for BM’s or just giving them a colour/style and letting them get their own. Actually I’m not even specifying a colour. I am going to let two of my bridesmaids pick whatever shoes they want with their dress and (I know this is kind of weird) but I’m going to give my third BM a specific style. The reason I’m giving her a rule but not the others is that she is, by her own admission, totally clueless and careless when it comes to fashion and I can just see her getting some big clunky heel shoe and thinking it looks fine. So, I will be specifying the type of heel and I may give her some colour suggestions to help. But I don’t want them to all feel forced to be too matchy-matchy. They can all pick their own shoes, hairstyle, makeup and jewelry - I just want them in the same dress.

target shoes may be uncomfortable though. you don’t want your maids to have blisters do you? amazon is a good place to look (charles david has a cheap line of shoes), also check zappos by price and color.

I let the bridesmaids pick the style of the shoes and I told them the color. I thought it was easier and brings their individual styles to it.

Nine west usually has some cute shoes. In fact I found these:

http://www.ninewest.com/n/browse/product.s?productId=8117&source=category&index=1&prodIndex=1&listSize=2

(accolia is the style name in gold for $69.00)

that i thought you might like.

Try Rack Room Shoes (or the website), Payless, or Zappos.
We found our shoes at DSW shoes (not sure if you have those) for 29.99 and my sister has worn them twice since. My dresses were champagne and the shoes were pretty, not costumey gold.

Please let them pick their own shoes! I think a requirement of “gold strappy sandals” will be good enough…especially if your ladies have good taste. This way the ones who want to make an investment on a pair of shoes will (def. something many people can wear again)…and those who want the target pair can go that route.

Just my opinion but I think choosing a dress for someone is as far as a bride should go…

Miss Raspberry, I wore gold shoes as a BM just this past wknd- our dresses were floor-length though, so the bride didn’t care if we didn’t have matching shoes. But even if your girls are wearing tea-length dresses, I think mismatched shoes are fine. Shows individuality (after a couple hrs, everyone started to look alike. seriously. it was eerie). And none of us spent more than $80 on our shoes! I saw some nice ones at Macys and Aldos for waaay less than the shoes you posted, and just as beautiful too!

I second Suzi’s suggestion - I have those Nine West shoes and love them!!

Our BM’s have tea length dresses and I picked out the shoes, since they’re visible I wanted them to match.

It seems a bit much to me to ask your bridesmaids to wear the exact same shoes of your choosing. Everyone understands matching bridesmaid dresses, but possibly having to wear an uncomfortable pair of shoes just so your feet are also an exact match? And then what, they take them off and wear flipflops for the reception? I don’t understand that mindset. Why not just get pretty and comfortable shoes for the entire wedding day? Or does that make too much sense? There are shoes out there like that, I bought such a pair from Perfect Details.com. There are so many pairs of gold strappy sandals out there, let your bridesmaids choose like the adults they are. BTW, the Target shoes are cute, but I bet they’re really uncomfortable. Generally, you get what you pay for.

My friend initially said we could choose from a few different styles from Ann Taylor, but all in the same fabric and color. Now, she’s making us all wear the same style AND wants us all to wear the same exact shoes. I’ve been a bridesmaid many times and I’ve never been ‘made’ to wear a certain shoe. The shoe she picked is a little sandal with one tiny strap going across the front. I don’t have what you’d call ‘delicate’ feet and my toes are very long. Those shoes just look awful on my feet!!! She’s almost insisting that the shoes have to be the same, but we’re in our mid 30’s for goodness sake!! What to do??!!!

Hi,
Not sure if you found your shoes by now, but I had my girls get their shoes at shoeshow.com. Their shoes were on sale for $17 and they’ve all received them now and say they’re really comfortable. Of course, the style I chose is sold out now, due to prom, but they have alot to choose from on there. (they also have physical stores in some locations, so the girls can try them on).

Good luck!

Hello!

I am trying to find shoes to go with the dress I picked out for the bridesmaid:
http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridesmaids_bycolor_detail.jsp?stid=1674&sid=5016&cfid=44

I was thinking maybe a gold strappy sandal. But I need at least three different styles in the same hue so they match. One of the girls has to wear flat because she had knee surgery and one of the girls wants strappless. And the other three girls will probably do heels with straps.

I am flexible, but it may look funny if they all have different shades of gold? What do you think?
