About Mrs. Orchid

I think it was back in my high school days when Revlon was pushing advertisements with Cindy Crawford and Color Stay lipstick. At that time my color was Sienna, and when I look back at pictures I think, “Oh… my God, what was I thinking?!” My dark red lipstick color totally contrasted against my light skin, not to mention my lovely navy Catholic school uniform. I looked like a Vamp-Tramp! Hahaha…

Did Revlon ColorStay work back then? Ehh… I’d say no. Well that ladies, was over a decade ago (am I dating myself too much by telling you that?) and since then I’ve graduated onto newer and better products. Products that I can wholeheartedly say “work!”

Undoubtedly I’ve been searching for a “longlasting lipcolor that won’t kiss off” for my big day. With the all the kissing pictures I will need to take that day, I wanted one that will not leave colored lipstick stains on my darling groom, and will not require me to keep applying and reapplying.

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolor does just that! Paired with Clear Lipglass, these are my #1 Must Have Picks for my big day.

Here’s my application method:

1) Apply the Pro Longwear Lipcolor on first, without applying any chapstick or lip moisturizer beforehand. This is the single most important rule of making this work - if you apply any moisturizer on your lips, the color won’t stay.

2) Give the lipcolor a few seconds to let it dry.

3) Gently blot your lips with a tissue. Very little to none should come off onto your tissue.

4) Follow up with the clear Lipglass. This stuff is very thick so just a small bead should be enough for your lips.

And there you have it! Now you can eat, drink, and kiss your night away, and the lipcolor will stay! You’ll only need to reapply the clear gloss.

I would not however recommend this for daily usage as the lipcolor tends to dry out your lips. Hope this has been informative for you girls! Please share your longlasting lip products and tips with us too! :)

Great tip! I’ll be sure to remember this, since I’m DIY-ing my makeup :-)

I love that stuff! FSIL had me try it a few weeks back and the color really didn’t bugde for hours and hours. I’ll be sure to pick some up for the big day.

Can we see the picture from high school? Please.

I am going to get the MAC products. But my hair always gets in my lip gloss and then gets on my face.

SheaLou - Lipglass is sticky, thats why I stressed that you only use a small bead of it. The Pro Longlasting Lipcolor is what you will be using for the color. And the Lipglass is just to shine it up. So even if you kiss someone only the clear gloss would come off.

nancy - I’ll have to look for one & scan it. That was before the days of digicams. Good Lord I might scare you all off with the pic! Hahaha :)

Ooo I have some lip gloss from VS. When i wear it, I have to warn fiance I’m wearing lip gloss from the tar pit, and he’ll get trapped in it if he kisses me. It’s so sticky I hate wearing it, but it sure shines.

Here’s a tip on lip color application that lasts all night:
1. line lips
2. fill in entire lips with liner
3. apply lipstick
4. blot lips - this removes the oil while keeping the pigment
5. refill lips with more lipstick
6. add a dab of gloss just to the center of your lips - this makes your lips look fuller.
HTH!

I have some of theMAC pro longwear, and I wouldn’t buy it again. I find that it desiccates the lips, and that it starts to “pill” and peel off my lips within an hour or so, leaving a peely mess on my lips. I don’t use anything underneath, but it just won’t work for me, so I’d make sure to try before you buy!
