Beehive

March 7th, 2007 @ 5:14 pm by Beehive

In today’s hive:

  1. Kymberli is looking for suggestions on cute strappy silver shoes for her bridemaids.
  2. katiey424 is going on a minimoon to Vegas. She and her FI have been with other people but not each other. Any recommendations on good restaurants or things to do (they plan on seeing a Cirque show).
  3. Kara is considering purchasing this Jim Hjelm dress in ivory as her wedding dress. Has anyon used this dress in a solid color combination?
  4. Juyon is looking for a DJ in the NYC area that speaks English and Korean fluently.
  5. Evita is in dire need of an affordable florist in the NYC area. She’s looking to spend $2500 for 15 centerpieces, bridal bouquet, 4 maids bouquets, 7 bouts, and 2 church arrangements. Suggestions?

katiey424-I just got back from vegas, I saw saw a Cirque show-”O” it was very good, “KA” sounds really good too. but book tickets early, ask around, you might be able to get tickets half off. I booked my ticket last min and ended up paying $165 per tix…it was very good though. enjoy!

I’ve seen both KA and Mystere, and I thought KA was boring in comparison, but my friends who had never seen any Cirque show thought KA was amazing! If you’re planning on watching all the Cirque shows, you should start with KA but if you’re probably never going to watch one again, go with “O” or Mystere!

If you’re in any way of a Celine fan or even just like some of her songs, her show is fantastic. I’ve seen it twice and I’m not even a Celine fan! It’s just a great show to watch in general and its her last year in Vegas!

O is the best cirque show in Vegas in my opinion.

katiey424 - I’ve been to Vegas twice! Have you thought about Lake Las Vegas? It’s a bit further out and apparently has a more resort-like feeling to it, more relaxing, might be nice for a lunch one day or something.

Lance Burton’s magic show is amazing! I would highly recommend it. I also really enjoyed the Blue Man Show.

Other things we loved in Vegas are the shopping in Caesar’s Palace, the shark aquarium at Mandalay Bay, the rides at the top of the Stratosphere, the light show at Fremont Street, and if you want the best pizza you’ll ever taste in your entire life, head to the California Pizza Kitchen. I can’t remember which hotel it’s in! I think maybe Mirage, but I am not 100% certain on that.

Have a blast! I’m going back with my fiance in April for a friend’s wedding.

We got tickets at the half off ticket place at the fashion mall for mystere, it wasn’t quite half off but it was cheaper. What we liked was that we got great seats.

Paris was nice to go at night right before the water show across the street

If you want to eat at the Cheesecake Factory and don’t want to wait. People leave the restaurant line to watch the Neptune show in the promenade. (I forget which hotel, Ceasar’s?)

Not sure if this is the correct place, but it would be great to see some “older” (i.e., older than 30ish) Weddingbee bloggers. I love this site, but as I’m 33 and my fiance is 40, we deal with some issues unique to people who have been living independent lives for 22 years (him) and 15 years (me). I’d love to hear the experience of other couples in our situation! Hope this doesn’t offend, just wanted to throw in my $0.02

junebride we’d looooove to have “older” brides on the site, just a more diverse site in general!

unfortunately we haven’t really had any older brides express interest in blogging on weddingbee. but we certainly welcome all kinds of brides and will be on the lookout! :)

O in vegas is a MUST, imho.

Anybody have any suggestions for who should do my wedding day hair in Manhattan? And what a reasonable price is for a not-that-elaborate half up/half down do?

thanks!

Evita, I am on a tight floral budget as well. Flower Michele out in Long Island was AMAZING and was able to work with us. Mrs. Spider used them and I’ve heard nothing but raves about them.

the owner’s name is john. and he’s SOOOO great!

Juyon - After a very extensive research i got the names and numbers of 3 Korean DJ’s in the NYC area! Email me at glass012@yahoo.com for the info.

Evita - Like heyjanety i also booked with John at Flower Michele. He is very accomodating to whatever budget you have. With your $2500 budget i think you can get what you need plus more! Check him out!

The… oh dear I never remember the name of it… oh yes.. the Stratosphere… the hotel all the way to the north with the needle… has their revolving restaurant with really amazing views of Las Vegas strip and the surrounding areas. We went during the day for Sunday brunch, and I really enjoyed it. I believe the lunch brunch was a three or four course entree for 35-45 bucks per person and dinner according to our friends was also 3-4 courses at about 100 per person. The food isn’t bad. And they serve complimentary champagne (at least they did at brunch) that is only served at their stratosphere hotels - which is really yummy and our waiter was so nice and kept refilling our bottles for us.

I’d totally go again, because just sitting there and seeing the views is entirely worth it. Next time I’d like to go at night.

You should check out Rose from Designs by Rose, she is located in Queens, but she is awesome~! And super affordable. I am getting about 15 centerpieces and all the other flowers for alot less. I told her my budget and she totally worked with me.

4. KARA - I love love LOVE that dress! It is sooo elegant. I had that dress in mind for a potential bridesmaids dress, but nixed the idea cuz my dress is lace and don’t want to overdo it. But I think it would make a lovely wedding dress in white or ivory =)

Me and Mr. G. also went on a mini-moon to vegas. We saw the cirque show Zumanity and thought it was awesome. It’s very sexual in nature but beautiful to watch and funny & fun. When we bought the tickets the guy at the booth said it was perfect for honeymooners, and he was right ;-)

Evita - I am going to use http://www.flowersbydiane.net/weddings.asp in Hoboken. The prices are the most affordable that I’ve found and she’ll work with you price-wise and give you ideas.

Thanks for the tips. We’re going to see O and we’ve already got our hotel. I’ve stayed out at Lake Las Vegas and it’s fabulous but we didn’t want to rent a car. as far as cheesecake and CPK, we have those in Dallas - but you’re right - they are both fantastic.
Hubby and I have been to Vegas as part of a bachelor or bachelorette party but since we’re not going to be that wild, I just wanted some alternatives like fun hangout bars and touring the Wynn Maserati dealership :) A girl can dream right?

Does anyone know what the Reem Acra Roseline is? I can’t find pictures or links of it anywhere, but I know it’s a slightly more affordable line of Reem dresses. I would love to see pictures or know the price range of them. TIA!

H–
We had our engagement party at the Black Door in Chelsea in their back room and had food brought in by Whole Foods around the corner. The room was free but for a Saturday night we had to be out by 9PM for the next party.

I saw both ¢¢â€š¬…”O¢¢â€š¬? and Mystere, and I like Mystere slightly more. As for food, you should try Nobu, Picasso, BOA Steakhouse, or N9ne. You should def. stay at Venetian hotel with Bellagio fountain view. Also, spend an afternoon by Mandalay bay’s beach theme pool. I miss Vegas already!

Ka was incredibly boring and nothing like what I expected of a Cirque de Soleil show. Avoid!
