About Mrs. Apple

It’s been about 9 months since I started wedding planning and in some way, iIm a little sad that this whole experience will be ending soon. I’ve learned so much - I can’t believe how much detail and time goes into planning a wedding. I’m just amazed at the amount of information one can get from the web, but more than anything, I’m thankful.

It’s funny because I was never the type to wanted to get married. I was perfectly a-ok with being bf and gf with Mr. Apple. I guess it’s funny how people change with age. But wedding planning has been the bomb. It’s been stressful yet satisfying. I’ve loved every minute of researching wedding bands, sealing invitations with Mr. Apple, going to makeup trials with my MOH, reading Weddingbee, and going to Borders and reading up on the latest trends in Martha’s Wedding Magazine.

Surprisingly, after all of this my most favorite moment thus far has been selecting my flower girl dresses. I had so much fun having Katie (my flower girl) try on little pretty pink and green dresses. She really enjoyed it which made the experience that more memorable.

What’s been your most favorite of wedding planning?

This will be followed by my next post, “What’s been your least favorite of wedding planning?” :)

Well favorite parts of wedding planning … is finding the PERFECT one. The PERFECT wedding dress, the PERFECT shoes, the PERFECT flower girls dresses and of course the PERFECT bouquet. All of these things took me just about forever to find but once I found and loved it was great and I got to check it off my looonnng list. :)

Since we’re having a DW in Hawaii, our scouting trip was my favorite part of the whole wedding planning process. I got to meet with both the hotel and day-of coordinators, the florist, had my tasting, and even had my hair and makeup trial. The whole experience gave me some peace of mind.

Planning the honeymoon! (Does that count?) Also, fulfilling my craft fantasies by making my DIY invitations.

Nothing. I hate making decisions for myself. I rather tell other people what to do ;)

aww. i really enjoyed the flower girl dress shopping too because my niece is my flower girl and she’s just at that age where she can express her opinions and she just loved wearing all the pretty dresses. and she’d twirl and say “i like this” heehee.

my favorite part.. has probably been the sense of satisfaction knowing despite my reluctance about so many things, everything really has come together. and i may even feel sad when it’s all done. heh.

I’ve still got time, but my favorite part of planning so far would have to be the Sunday Morning Engagements at Crate and Barrel. FI and I had a really good time (which was surprising since FI hated registering at the other places) wandering around the store and picking things out for our married life. Since we don’t live together yet, it sort of made things a little more real to be imagining using things together or sitting on “our” couch. It was more like spending some relaxing quality time together, and yet, it still involved the wedding. :-)

Mine has been getting the opportunity to work together on projects with Mr B and our parents! I love having a project to do, and it’s so much more fun when you’re working with someone you care about :-)

Logging on to Wedding Bee of course and feeling like I will have a totally inferior wedding. Of course my attendant is my fiance’s niece and she just informed me that the size 0 in the Banana Republic dress I chose for her, fits perfectly. I thanked her and told her the fat suit I ordered should bring her up to a perfect 12. This will make me feel less inferior since I can’t make myself younger or more beautiful.

My favorite part is how many opportunities it gives me to exercise my creativity. I get to go through every tradition one by one and ask, “How can I make this interesting?” It’s challenging, but really a lot of fun.

I’ve really loved how close it’s brought me to my sister, my maid of honor. We weren’t always close, but she’s been so great with ideas and helping with DIY - we’ve been having so much fun together!
