Surprising Myself

March 8th, 2007 @ 1:33 pm by Mrs. Lemon

Remember those invitation maps I designed awhile back for my guests? I finally got to the point where I really liked them enough to declare them ¢¢â€š¬…”done¢¢â€š¬? and stopped tinkering with the design. And then I started printing them out last night¢¢â€š¬¦ and I almost cried tears of DIY joy!

I’m absolutely in awe and in love with them. I tried my best to capture the unique way the ink printed on my textured paper, so hopefully you can see the variations in the color!

Now I can only cross my fingers and hope that my other 5 designs turn out just as well!!!

And for those that inquired about instructions for my method… I’ll be sharing the methods to my design maddness very soon!

I really really like your maps. I can definately tell the differences in color on the textured paper.

great idea, so artistic and unique! this should ensure that none of your guests have to stop and ask for directions. that should make the guys happy :)

I saw a couple of other ladies looking for a way to design maps… I used Microsoft Visio and did the same thing (pasted my google map inside and traced over it) and visio even gives you all of the shapes needed to design a map- highway signs, compass, etc. I got so carried away, I even did my site maps for my coordinator for the reception, cocktail hour and ceremony!

Are you printing these on your home printer? Will ink be a consideration? They look fab!

Those look so nice! Did you use an ink jet printer or laser printer to print on your textured paper? I have been having trouble getting the ink to stick on my textured paper for my RSVP cards (I used a laser printer). I’m wondering if ink jet printer might be better since the ink is ’sprayed out’.

Miss Emerald - I’m very lucky that my ink usage is a free courtesy but it is printed on a home laser printer

Cherry Blossom - Have you tried changing the paper choice in your options? I had horrible toner shadows on my first print, so I changed the paper to “heavy cardstock” and everything worked great!

They look amazing :) And by the way, your knot bio is equally amazing!
