Ms Broccoli's Picture
Miss Broccoli, Maine Age and Occupation: 20-something, Cookie Monster Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Real Estate, soon to be student (again) Engagement Date: November 2005 Wedding Date: April 2007 Venue: Southern Maine About Me: I actually don't really love weddings (!) and I don't really like broccoli. Fortunately, I have learned that both are not so bad if you squint your eyes and hold your breath. When I'm not planning our 180-ish (90% family!) person wedding, I like to poke fun at Mr. Broccoli, read big books, and drink endless cups of tea.

Hello Out There!

Hello! It’s awfully nice to be here! -awkward silence- Hmmm. Tough crowd. I guess I’ll start with the 411 on this wedding of mine– er, ours.

It’s taking place in New England, in a great big wallop of a state called Maine (where we sell things like moose droppings and actually eat them too).

A spring-ish affair, with lots of branches, forsythia, birdies, and the colors yellow, brown, and a hint of apple-green (a color combination that I often refer to as the toilet bowl trio… but enough with this talk about bodily functions…).

Hmm, what else? Well, this is a budget wedding because I have yet to finish grad school and Mr. Broccoli has been humming the nursing/med-school tune for awhile now. It’s also somewhat of a non-traditional wedding, since Mr. Broccoli and I are both originally from Eastern Europe.

Oh, and did I mention that I have less than two months to wrap things up before the big day?

I hope I can be of some use to all you readers out there, or at least good for a laugh as you plan your own weddings. Cheers and many smiles!

“Toilet bowl trio” - hilarious! Looking forward to hearing about it.

(I love forsythia - perfect for spring.)

(Correction: Hearing about the wedding, not the toilet bowl.)

I love that a Bee has been added who represents us brides who have not had weddings on the brain since we were young girls!

Oh wow we have very similar tastes. His favorite color is yellow, mine is brown, so those are our wedding colors. Hadn’t thought of the apple green, I’m sure that will be pretty. We’re also on a tight budget. Please share any pics or ideas! We’re doing a ‘german fiesta’ - I’m German, he’s Mexican. Sounds funny but they’re two nationalities who know how to celebrate :-) We’re having it at a German beergarten, with Mexican food, with Mariachis AND an oompa band for a while (then a DJ later). Should be interesting…
I’m glad to see another non-traditional bride (except I pretty much talk about it with everyone… but I admire your ability to keep mum). :-)
