SF Continued

March 10th, 2007 @ 11:09 pm by Mrs. Snow Pea

Picking up from last time, we went over to the de Young Museum. The fine arts museum was damaged in an earthquake in 1989 and rebuilt as an “architectural masterpiece” with this copper facade.

It was neat to see the safety pin.

sf2.jpg

There is a button with needle in thread in NYC. There is a wooden clothing pin in Philadelphia. The museum is also available for weddings and private events.

We were just in time to go up to the observation deck. This is a must see view.

For dinner we went to EOS, an asian fusion restaurant. The dishes are family style. A little pricier and smaller portions, but I highly recommend it! My personal favorite is the Spicy Prawns and Tofu. The flavors were so yummy.

DAY 2

Every morning we went to La Boulange for breakfast. We sat and sipped chai lattes while we watched everyone walk their beautiful dogs and children. This was a wonderful place with lots of yummy things to tempt you with.

sf9.jpg sf10.jpg

These were the best that we tasted. The vegetarian tart (top), the cheese danish (left) and the quiche lorraine (bottom)

Fat and happy we were ready for a full day of site seeing. First we went to the Ferry building marketplace.sf11.jpg

Both inside and outside of the building was an open market full of fresh fruit, homemade jams, chutney, orchids, seafood and MORE! Of course I had to take a picture of the interior structure.

sf12.jpg

Check out the guy with the cool basket on his back.

sf13.jpg

There was a stand with a bucket of Touching Beans. Go ahead. You know you want to. We asked the lady what the beans were about and she told us that when the sun is out the beans get very warm. If you put your hands in them you can really feel the warmth. She told us that they (the beans) will be in GQ. The photographers were just there taking photos.

sf14.jpg

I bought an oyseter for $1.50. Yummm

sf15.jpg

sf16.jpg

Some of my favorites.

Miette: pastry shop with lots of pretty goodies fit for wedding favors! I love the cookie jars all in a row and the pretty packages.

sf17.jpg sf18.jpg

Chocolate shop. I can’t remember the name. I really like this ginger heart.

sf19.jpg sf20.jpg

Had enough food yet???

Okay, let’s go site seeing.

City Hall:

sf21.jpg

Asian Art Museum-I was very excited to see this.

sf22.jpg sf23.jpg

Sleeping Buddha in the 4th and final position which represents him at death. There is an oversized version of this same statue in Thailand. Has anyone seen it?

sf24.jpg

Then off we went to Fisherman’s Wharf.

sf25.jpg

Yes, we ate again. I was told we had to have the Cioppino at Nick’s #5. It was very good but I have had better actually in Baltimore (shhhh)

cioppino.jpg

sf26.jpg

Alcatraz-the famous prison that was considered inescapeable. Very much like marriage. Just kidding!

sf27.jpg

Look, no jacket! It’s warm.

sf28.jpg

Ghiradelli Square-They handed out free chocolate squares. MMMmmm

sf29.jpg

We even ran into a beautiful beautiful bride!!! Her dress was gorgeous. She must have been so cold though. I had to take a picture of her. Yep, always got wedding on the brain.

sf31.jpg

Then we went to Japantown and checked that out. It was very cute! I wish we had spent some more time there.

sf32.jpg

Dinner time!!

We went to Brother’s for Korean BBQ.

sf33.jpg sf35.jpg

After a long day, we took a cab home and rested our tired legs and full bellies.

Times we ate: 6
Sites seen: 7
Brides seen: 1
Friends made: 2

More to come…
