Bouquet Toss Time

March 11th, 2007 @ 12:36 pm by Mrs. Peach

Hmmmmm. Yes, it’s less than 2 weeks away from my wedding and I am still working on the reception time-line. haha. If you’re having a bouquet toss, when are you having it and why did you decide that time? I’ve seen sample time-lines where it happens in the middle of the reception (they stop dancing for awhile to do it) OR before they open up the dance floor OR at the end before the couple leaves.

My Bouquet Toss song will be: Bootylicious by Destiny’s Child. ^_^ I decided that today. haha.

Oh and I hope nobody notices that I’ll be tossing a bridesmaid’s bouquet and not my bridal bouquet. I was too cheap to get a tossing bouquet but didn’t wanna give mine away… winky01 Besides, one of my sisters wasn’t planning to drag her bouquet from Atlanta back to SF anyways.

I have not yet decided if I am going to do the whole bouquet toss or not. I know that when I have gone to weddings the single gals seem to hate being called into the middle (sort of like Sex in the City when the bouquet falls right at their feet and they just leave it there!) so I think I may avoid it altogether BUT I am still not sure.
If I do it I think I will do it in the middle of the dance simply because we plan on staying until the very end! If you do plan on having the big exit I would do it then. I loved how they did it in Father of the Bride…

I think we are going to have a bouquet toss. My fiance is very traditional when it comes to these things (such as this and the garter toss), but I don’t know when we are going to do it. Our reception will be abbreviated since it will be later in the evening and there will be children present. I made my tossing bouquet. I got the info from the Spring 2006 (maybe Summer 2006) issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. It’s 25 white tissue paper flowers.

These days, people seem to be getting away from it. We did a destination wedding and this just didn’t fit with the vibe we wanted.

I’m not doing many traditional wedding reception things like a bouquet toss, garter toss, chicken dance, ymca, etc. The reception is more of a lounge feel where every can dance mingle as they choose.

Well, I’m not doing a bouquet toss - just ’cause it’s not my thing. I must be honest in saying that I don’t understand the purpose of the bouquet toss, if you’re not tossing the bouquet you got married with. Isn’t the whole point to pass along that good fortune that you “carried” with you? I don’t know, maybe it’s just me; but i’m a stickler for the real deal, ya know? Why do it, if the meaning has been lost?

We’re not tossing a bouquet or a garter… we’re breaking pinatas!

I love, LOVE Histafe’s pinata idea!! Since we’re including juggling and calypso music in the ceremony, a totally playful spin on the bouquet/garter toss sounds fantastic! Are you using a traditional candy pinata, or filling it with silk/plastic “bouquets” and cheap garters and other wedding trinkets?!

i’m thinking about doing it during the middle of the reception, if not, towards the end.
bootylicious is a fun song to play during the bouq. toss~

and great idea to use your sister’s bouquet…i’m sure the lady who catches it will love it~ usually throw-away bouquets aren’t nearly as nice as the BMs
