Mrs. Kiwi's Picture
Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Center of My World

March 12th, 2007 @ 5:23 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

I finally took pictures of our centerpiece stuff. They are comprised of a golden color pillar candle, some of the floral glass marble things and a vase. There is also a rust colored ribbon, but I just tied it into a bow since I’m not sure what to do with it.

We bought many things to try in the vases - rocks, different colored candles, different colored marbles, and candy. After all the different things were thrown together, this is what we like (again, the ribbon is a test run).

Another shot of the centerpiece with Woofie investigating in the background:

Now, when I see the elaborate floral designs and the towering displays of other weddings I feel a little wistful. Then I remember, floral centerpieces weren’t something I wanted. I wanted low, glowing vases that give off a sparkle. There are more things we’re going to use to dress up the tables, but we’re not entirely sure what yet. :)

So this is our trial centerpiece run. While it may look cheap to some, I really like the minimalism involved.

Ooooh too cute! And I am currently explaining my complicated ribbon idea to you now. It involves crossing the ribbon instead of tying a bow and gluing a paper leaf and/or pinecone or something at the cross point! Haha I am way too excited about this. :-)

I love your choice for centerpieces. It will definitely set the mood at your reception!

I love it! I think the bow looks good! I think Miss Bluebell’s idea of gluing something in the middle is good as well.

I really like them! I too am not having floral centerpieces…and sometimes I find myself looking at the elaborate floral designs people have and feeling wistful as well! Although, I’m saving a lot more money by having candles, and it’s what I wanted anyways! :) I don’t think they look cheap at all - I think candles set a very romantic mood!
