Clutching [at] Pearls

I was never a big fan of pearls. Growing up, my mother loved them. BUT…our tastes are almost always opposite. We appreciate each others’ sensibilities but can’t necessarily share stuff back and forth. Plus I always thought of pearls as, well, rather matronly.

I must be getting old. Soon I will technically be a matron, too, I guess. Maybe that’s why I now <3 pearls. A lot. It all started with modest studs that the Mr. Lime’s mom gave to me a few birthdays ago.

A very generous friend is letting me borrow her beautiful mother of pearl hair accessories for my wedding, as I previously posted.

I will not be wearing a necklace as my neckline and bodice have a lot of draping going on in gorgeous silk tafetta.

I’ve been scouring the internet, department stores, and boutiques for the perfect stud with a drop earring made of pearls and CZ. I’ve found a few that were satisfactory but one thing or another was off. Too small, too large, too busy, too much filigree, too plain, too dangly, not dangly enough, etc. I am totally fine with fakeys for this as well. After seeing quite a few Majorica brand ones at Nordstrom today, I Googled and found these on saks.com.

Perfect in so many ways. The pearl is the exact size I wanted (10 mm) as is the overall drop (about 1 inch), the pear shaped CZ mimics the “petals” in my hair pins, the clusters of the three smaller CZ mimic the three petals in the hair pins (plus I just like things grouped in threes), and they’re classic and elegant with just enough bling/flash factor for the special occasion. The price, at $115, is not so perfect, though. Well, it’s off to ebay I go!

Beautiful! I’ve always loved pearls…even as a little girl. Of course, I’m also the retro 1950’s housewife type :-D.

Beautiful. I’ve always loved pearls, but I am a June baby so that is my traditional birth stone. I think they look great with the little diamonds. I’ve admired alot of things at http://www.americanpearl.com

I think they’re beautiful. My husband gave me a set of black pearl earrings on our wedding day that just took my breath away! But it’s tough to incorporate black pearl into a white wedding.

Those are beautiful! I’ve been also trying to find some cute pears/cz earrings for my wedding dress but came up with nada. I’ve looked on ebay, nordstrom stores, various jewelery sites, etc. Please do let me know if you find something that is at a reasonable price and a close match to the one you posted. I love them! -)
