MOB Dress(es)

March 12th, 2007 @ 9:34 am by Mrs. Plum

Today, I took my mom, sister, and aunt to start searching for the perfect MOB dress. The shopping gods must’ve been smiling down on us today because we found not one, but TWO great dresses.
The funny thing is, they’re absolutely nothing like what she’s ever worn before and nothing like what I had envisioned for her!

We found both dresses at Whatchamacallit Fashions:

Dress 1

and now… my favorite!

z793018

z793019

z793020

Isn’t she just beautiful? :)

I think both dresses are beautiful and age-appropriate!

What do you think?

i, too, like the second one better– the color is gorgeous and the cut is prettier than the first!

wow. she does look lovely. i like the 2nd one better too.

is your FMIL also wearing a similar style dress? i’ve only been to two weddings. for one the mothers wore the traditional korean outfit and for the other they wore something a lot more conservative (the two-piece top/skirt look)… so yeah, in regards to the age appropriateness, i’m not sure i qualify to answer. =P

go with the second one. i would’ve like the first dress more if the v neck weren’t a plunging v.

Beautiful dress, beautiful mom. where are the dresses??? I love the second one. I feel like I need a second dress since I am 50, marrying for the first time and will never be the mother of a bride.

They are both beautiful and age-appropriate, but I think the blue one is more flattering to her figure and the color is more elegant.

I love them! Second one for sure. You should show your mother this post, she should know there are so many of us who think she’s drop dead gorgeous! And even more so in those dresses!

I guess I’m the odd ball out. I really LOVE the first one, but not that big of a fan of the second one.

I’m with eisor- the second dress has a lot going on and I prefer the first. BUT she looks very pretty in both.

I guess that makes me odd to - I love the first one!! I think it is stunning. I like the color on the second one but I don’t like the bodice - it seems a little overwhelming. To me, the first one seems more mature and elegant.

vote for the second one! the first one isn’t as flattering or (IMHO) as age appropriate- it looks a little like a bridesmaid dress to me (blame all the bridesmaid things I have been doing lately)

she is stunning.

Wow, I like them both, but I don’t think I like either of them as MOB dresses. All I know is there’s no way I’d let my mom wear something like that. And I could never see my FMIL in something that flashy. Aren’t moms supposed to be the conservative older/wiser figures? I guess they just don’t fit with my upscale-casual wedding, so I have a hard time picturing them fitting in with our schematic.

This is my FMIL at my FSIL’s wedding last August (escorted by my handsome FH!) so this is what I’m going off of. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l201/sarcazm2004/Wedding%20Ceremony/DSCF6825.jpg
