My Wedding Announcements?

March 13th, 2007 @ 1:33 pm by Mrs. Kiwi

Hey guys, knowing you are all pillars of information, I have a question for you:

Where do you have your wedding website? Is it free, or do you pay a certain amount? What do you include in your page?

Right now I’m using www.weddingannouncer.com, and I like it so far. Our page is comprised of the dates, the places and the people. I’m hesitant to post any pictures of the wedding party for privacy reasons. Next time I see my AWOL Matron of Honor I will ask them for permission! So even though I’m happy where I am, it can’t hurt to hear what else is out there!

Please let me know if you have a better site than Wedding Announcer, or if you are a happy Wedding Announcer couple, like we are!

I use theknot.com’s site… so my guests can RSVP. Limited designs to choose from (don’t really like any of them, heh), but it doesn’t matter that much to me.

EG says:

I’ve opened an account at every wedding website site there is…therefore I have like 5…

I think I am going to stick with Wedding Announcer because of their flexibility with add pages and deleting pages, you can add a song. I do not like, however, the fonts and designs…

I too have weddingannouncer and I love it! It had the most designs and options for customization of all the free sites I looked at, and has online RSVP (but we might not use it).

The only thing that irks me is in the photo albums you can only rearrange images by moving them ONE forward or backward so it takes foreverrrrr! So if you’re going to be doing that make sure you upload them in approximately the order you want. :-)

we’re using wedshare.com. we paid $79 for a year but we like the features.

We’re using Wedding Tracker and love it. We used a discount code from the knot and I think it’s around $50 a year.

Amy says:

we used wedding tracker as well and it’s just ok in my opinion. our friend is using wedorama and it looks pretty awesome. i would check them out.

I just bought a domain name and host it on my existing website’s host and use Wordpress to create the site. There are a ton of themes out there, making the design flexible. I also am able to keep a wedding blog as a result. I’m also using a cool plugin that pulls in all of my Flickr photos that are tagged with “mynameandmyfiancesname” to display on the site. (admittedly, I’m a bit of a web geek so this was easy for me to all set up and was the cheapest option)

I’m using mywedding.com. It is free, it is easy to customize, and provides RSVP, too. People can post comments, contact you through it, you can post pictures. I really am pleased with it.

i’ve been trying to figure out which website to register with…
i would like to have a simple/recognizable URL, with just our first names and not a long URL w/ all these words and numbers…I figure it would look better on save-the-dates, and etc.

Do any of your ladies know which wedding website offers such registration? And are there any that are of minimal cost?

Jenny GoLightly says:

We use wedshare too. I’m a web geek (for a living) but I couldn’t be bothered with setting up an RSVP database, so the $79 was worth it. I really like it. Besides, buying the domain and hosting would cost me about $79 anyways.

We’re using WeddingWindow.com. I love it so far. Lots of customizing options and easy to use, but my guests keep complimenting how impressed they are by the site (and they’ve seen many wedding websites). We bought our domain separately because we wanted it to be ournames.com instead of websitehost.com/ournames.

We are just using The Knot but it really is just for our own fun as most of our guests are not very computer literate. We registered at The Bay here (a national department store in Canada) and some of my FI family are upset with us because they only have a Sears where they live. When I tried to explain that they could order gifts online it was like I was speaking Latin so we had to break down and register for some items at Sears too. I can’t imagine telling them that we have a wedding website and that they can go there to RSVP… I think it might blow their minds.

we’re using ewedding.com and we LOVE it. they have different packages (starting from free.) we bought a yearly. we got our own domain name and a totally customizable site with rsvp features and fun stuff like polls and quizzes. I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve gotten on it.

Weddingwindow.com Rocks! Everyone has said how wonderful and professional our site looks. We also bought our domain name so when we put the address on the save the dates it read ournames.com

We used Yahoo Site Builder (http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com) and I couldn’t be happier. It’s free to use (although you have to pay for your domain name). I decided we’d keep our domain name and use it post wedding to share vacation photos, baby photos etc (when we get there).

It’s very easy to use and they have wedding templates. There is a print screen of our website in my knot bio (click the link of my name) and see “wedding website” in my table of contents.

I’d HIGHLY recommend Yahoo Site Builder.

We’re using wedquarters.com. It let us buy our domain name for a year (useful for save the dates and general cuteness) and the designs and features are great.

we use wedding window also, it’s very user friendly and they have customizable layouts that really look so nice. i get a lot of compliments about it.

Here’s another vote for wedding window (upgraded from the free package), but I must admit I haven’t used it as much post-wedding (pics etc). Choose it because it offered the best design selection/customization at the time. Yes, we got lots of compliments, too.

I’m making my own page. I tried out every wedding site I could find (about 12 total) and there was something I just didn’t like about each of them (mostly, the designs were too cutsey and not at all appropriate for our formal black-tie event). I work in science so I am already a pro with Illustrator and Photoshop, and I’m pretty good with HTML. I’m using a dual HTML/WYSIWYG editor (CoffeeCup) and putting together all the information, including what I liked best about the various sites. I have my domain name registered, although am still searching for an affordable hosting option (any suggestions?). I like the fact that since this is our site, we can keep it up for as long as we want after the wedding, and evolve it for our post-marriage life, if we so choose (I doubt we will, but it is nice to have the option). Plus, so far, everyone who has seen a “preview” has done nothing but rave about my site and everyone is so impressed that I did it myself — and who doesn’t like a little ego boost now and then? ;o)

Yet another vote for weddingwindow.com. We used it for our wedding and bought our own domain as well. We got TONS of compliments on our website. In fact, 6 months after we’re married, people are still going there for info!

I really like weddingwindow.com but i didn’t want to pay. being on a budget SUCKS!! so weddingannouncer.com does its job.

Jilly says:

I actually like the one available (for free) on weddingchannel.com.

i’m using http://www.wedquarters.com and i’m loving it. there are templates and what nots there. and if i want to put up something personal, and only want a select few people to see it, i can password protect specific pages.

Have any of you tried SharedWeddings? Its a relatively new wedding website (only about 6months old) where you can create your wedding website for free. There are some nice templates and its easy to browse other couples wedding websites for inspiration!
