This Caught My Eye

March 14th, 2007 @ 1:02 pm by Mrs. Apple

While browsing the internet for some classic and simple pearl bracelets, this caught my attention @ www.ice.com.

I actually thought for a second that spending $995 on my bridal jewlery (bracelet) was justifiable! But it’s so pretty and it would match my earrings and dress so well. They also offer an option of 5 easy payments of only $199/month. That sounds do-able, yes? winky05

Tell me my bees, should I “buy this item” and check out now?

I can see Mr. Apple shaking his head at me already…think about what I could do with an extra $1000.00.

Holy… cow. I have a hard time justifying a $50 pair of jeans. My opinion - put that towards a kid fund or house fund or car fund.

I would definitely search around a little more to see if you can find something similar for less. Maybe emitations.com? $1000 seems like alot to spend.

mmm i third Tessa. i would rather use that money to buy a nice lcd tv…

i bet you can find something just as nice but not as expensive… i know our weddingbee readers are GREAT at finding a similar style but better price- i think they helped miss blueberry with her wedding ring style?

That is a whole lot of money to spend on something to wear on one occasion! But if you really want it I say but it closer to the wedding and just return it afterwards! If you can… I know how ghetto huh, but I couldn’t justify spending that on a bracelet.

i would also say no to buying it. but if you do, you can get 20% off by using the link on this site.

but yea, $1,000 on one piece of jewlery that isn’t your wedding ring sounds too high. but it’s your wedding. good luck!

Would be a great wedding present from Mr. Apple. ;) If you love it and will wear it again after the wedding then go for it.

No ma’am. Restrain your clicky finger. I spent half that much on my dress! Two of those bracelets are my honeymoon! I mean, really, you already have the gorgeous ring. You could go without a single piece of jewelry on your wedding day and people would still think you’re beautiful.

Definitely too much! I think people are more apt to notice earrings and necklaces, anyway.

If it makes you feel better…I understand the temptation! It’s really pretty!

I always see stuff I want online and have to remind myself that wedding planning time is not the best time for big “other” (or any other) purchases. Even if they are really pretty.

Like Vicki says, you could always point out to Mr. Apple those 5 easy payments of $199 a month…;-)

Well I’m assuming you’re going to use it for more than just your wedding day right? If that’s the case and you love it, then go for it. I mean - jewelry can last you a lifetime. I personally wouldn’t spend that much for a bracelet, but I have for a necklace and I wear it everyday. It’s like buying a purse or a pair of shoes - if you want good quality - you have the spend the cash. Just make sure they’re good pearls and the diamonds are a good quality

i’d say go for it if you can afford it. if you have to make payments…no.

but i disagree with the above poster. the bracelet is classic and timeless so you’ll wear it often throughout your lifetime.

it’d make a nice piece to hand over through the generations as well. =)

or you know….

FI can buy it as your wedding gift. *hint hint* =P

I personally would not spend that much on a bracelet. Definitely think of all the other things you could buy for that much $$$$! I agree with other posters, if you have to make payments, don’t buy it!

I think people are giving you an overly hard time. If you can afford it, go for it! I work my butt off so i can afford to endulge once in a while. It is a personal decision, i for one would much rather have a stunning piece of jewerly that will be in my family for years than a new tv.

If you really like it and can see letting it become a family heirloom then go for it. The jewlery I wore on my wedding day cost more than my black tie wedding, my dress, and my 3 week honeymoon combined. Hell, the bracelet alone cost more than the reception site (including food). But I loved wearing it and I felt like a total queen. Of course, all the jewlery was borrowed from my mother so it didnt come out of my pocket but what made it so special was that it was family jewlery that I had adored since I was a little girl and I finally got to wear it. Family jewlery has to start somewhere, right? :)
