Time For An Intervention

March 14th, 2007 @ 6:58 pm by Mrs. Snow Pea

I couldn’t decide whether I wanted a “FUN” label for our water bottles, or one that matched the rest of the wedding fonts/labels/decor. Soooo I used both! From the time we got engaged, I have been itching to use this “Cocktail Bubbly” font for something. I got the idea of putting our names and date into a “bubble” from Sonic Stef Design.

- I removed the Poland Spring label off the bottle.
- I covered the label with a layer of contact paper. (I only did this so it’s durable as a sample).
- I glued the label onto the bottle at the seam.

Then I took it up a notch (BAM) and even made a label for the top of the cap!

Yes, I have officially reached a new height of wedding obsessiveness. It has been said the first step to recovery is admittance. Okay, I admit. I have officially gone off the deep end! Mr. Snow Pea asked, “What are you going to do after the wedding?” Frankly, I don’t know. Plan BBQ’s, Birthdays, and maybe even Baby Showers…wink wink.

At Water your way, you can upload your own design/photo, etc. and order the bottles of water with the labels on them already. The price isn’t too bad either. The only drawback is the image that you upload gets sized down and they have their logo/phone number on the side.

Now I need semi water proof or just a laminated/glossy paper to print the label on - any suggestions? I usually use photo paper for anything quality but with water, it will tend to bleed.

I just bought this gizmo for our wedding diy projects from xyron that has multiple cartraiges i think they offer one that laminates on one side and applys adhesive on the other you could print your labels on whatever paper then you just run it through this baby (X900 creative station i think) and peel and stick. Viola!

I looked online for a LONG time, and these seemed to be the most affordable. I just received a pack in the mail a few weeks ago. They’re great =)

Thank you for the suggestions. I will look into them. Thank you all for the compliments.

Tea - I usually do these little things at night after dinner to winde down after a long day of work and class. When I am tired of studying, I go to crafting and do it a little at a time. It really doesn’t take long.

HI COLLEEN!

in regards to making the labels more glossy..
i know this may sound like a ghetto approach but..
how about trying packaging tape (cut w/ clean lines), clear contact paper…basically some form of clear adhesive that would be make the label waterproof and then you would use another adhesive to stick the label to the bottle.

kp,

That’s a great idea! Clear packaging tape sounds perfect. It’s thin, clear and an adhesive. I’ll have to experiment with that. Thanks!

Wow, that’s amazing but a little too much effort for just water bottles. Personally, I think the onlinelabels.com are great and easier to use.

Anita 2 Keith. Did anyone get that?

H2O

Anita (will be married) 2 Keith.

Double meaning..both on the molecular level and wedding level.

Okay, so only a geek like me would think of that. :) Time for an intervention.

Cute! I like the geekiness, but I’m a nerd, too. :-) I got a tip from other brides that you can actually just have the labels laser printed at someplace like Kinkos, and the ink wont run when wet. That way you don’t have to shell out the extra $$ for waterproof labels.
