Long Before I Met Him

March 15th, 2007 @ 3:16 pm by Mrs. Lemon

…I was obsessed with sports. More specifically college football and basketball. And it’s been that way since before this photo was snapped in 1988. [p.s. it still shocks me to realize that I was almost 5' tall when I was 8 years old, and that my body/leg ratio is still the same. So weird!]

When Mr. Lemon and I started dating in MARCH two years ago, one of our dates involved watching some March Madness basketball games at a friendly get-together. I seriously considered not attending, in the fear that my fanaticism and random trivial knowledge would scare him running out onto Wilshire Blvd. Actually, the decision came down to an email vote among my friends before I left work… it was 3-1 that I go (the one vote against was from my other extremely passionate sports obsessed MOH who knew the danger too well herself). I quickly came to the realization that this guy needed to be exposed to the insanity and accept it, for better or worse, or else we’d never have a chance at the future.

Fast forward two years… and judging by the emails I’ve gotten this morning, he’s gotten himself fully hooked in March Madness as well. I guess it’s all my fault. Then again, he’s gotten me hooked on MMORPGs, Chinese chicken salad and The OC…all of which were HIS things before I was in his life. I think it’s a fair trade!

What interests or hobbies have you had rub off on your partner or vice versa?

Such a CUTE picture. I have tried to get my fiance to dance, and now, finally some success. Some of my fiance’s enthusiasm for UofT Longhorns has rubbed off on me. Neither one of us grabs our crotches, but I have tried chest butting and the “hook ‘em horns” move.

Go Jayhawks!!

Hehe.

I work out more now and take all the pilates, yoga and spinning classes that I have time for because my FI is a personal trainer and its just really a part of our lives.

He spends more time researching things before he buys them or when he has a question about something - I research obsessively about everything. :)

He also knows more about politics and uses a wide variety of spices and herbs when cooking now. When we met, he cooked EVERYTHING with: ground pepper, Cajun seasoning, seasoning salt and chili peppers. lol.

I am uber-organized about things. As an example of how this has rubbed off, for our minimoon (a 2 night trip), my dh made a spreadsheet, 3 maps, and a checklist. It was all put in a notebook and included dividers. I love him!!!

he started looking out for the results of any yankees’ games [they're my fav baseball team] and any notes of interests in anything i like.

i started researching electronic purchases like crazy.

and we both picked up a few of each other’s favorite phrases. though i refuse to pick up his affection for carrot cake.

Thanks for posting this pic. I worked for UCLA Athletics as a ball girl a few years after this picture was taken. I totally remember the girl and guy Bruins! Her gingham dress used to crack me up.
