Weddingbee Slowness :-(

March 15th, 2007 @ 6:15 pm by Mr. Bee

Hello my fellow Bees, this is Mr. Bee. I have to apologize for Weddingbee’s slowness and spotty uptime today. The new webhost that I picked has had great uptime for months - but then started having problems on the very day we picked to move!

We’re currently upgrading our hosting plan to a higher priced version. The upshot is that we will be on a dedicated server just for Weddingbee by the weekend, which should greatly improve our site speed. In the meantime, we’re at the mercy of the hosting company - I hope things should get better tomorrow, but can’t say for sure :-(.

I am deeply hopeful that the changes we’re making will make the site faster once and for all! Thanks for bearing with me, and my deepest apologies for the painful transition.

Just out of curiosity, when you changed hosting companies, did you also change how often the RSS feed updates? My feed reader (Google Reader) used to update Weddingbee every few hours (maybe 6 or so). But, I haven’t received any of today’s posts.

Thanks!

it might take a little while to adjust, but it should be ok soon. sorry bout that!

also a tip: the site seems to work a lot better in firefox than internet explorer, so try to use firefox instead. :)

Mrs Bee, that reminds me of a question I’ve had for a while…I didn’t know if you guys used FF or IE, but now that I know you use FF–why doesn’t weddingbee have one of those tiny icons that appears in the tab bar next to the site’s name? You know what I mean–like Xanga’s patchwork and Gmail’s red and white envelope. I’ve always thought it’d be a cute touch for all us FF users!

Hello Miss Blueberry! Do you mean like a favicon?

Hmm… we’ve talked about it, but could never figure out what icon we could put into such a tiny space. Maybe a tiny bee?

Yep, that’s what I’m talking about! I thought just a tiny bee would be super adorable :-) One of those nice little touches that all us B2B’s appreciate hehe :-)
