B Is For… Bad Girl?

March 16th, 2007 @ 4:55 pm by Ms Broccoli

Excuse the ancient cup and saucer (it was either that or use my crazy hula-hoop woman mug, and I really didn’t want to send anyone into shock). After coming across a similar picture on the knot, we’re considering giving our guests our initials in chocolate as favors.

This was the first attempt, so the letter ‘B’ is not quite up to standards. The ones after this looked much better!

I got my chocolate making kit at Rite Aid on sale for $10. I bought the dark chocolate mint chocolate at A.C Moore for 40% with a coupon, plus it was on sale to begin with, so it came to about $1.10 per bag.

The only down side is that the maker came with only one set of alphabet molds, so that means I can only do the A and the O, freeze ‘em, wash the molds, and repeat the process. I was not a happy camper when I realized this.

Has anyone seen candy letter molds with just one letter repeated? I will give you a hug and a host of virtual cookies if you can help me!

I too wanted to do this and spent hours searching for a place that had just a single letter mold - it doesn’t exist. There is a place in Germany that makes huge versions of these and a place that makes their molds, but they aren’t cheap.

I think there is a way to pipe your initials onto wax paper and then let them harden. Prob. something I saw on Martha Stewart.

Yeah, can you pipe meringue letters onto wax paper and let them harden.

I love all things monogram/letters, etc. You would think they would have more molds for vowels.

The first one is a single letter but they are in squares not the cut out letter.

hey, so i’ve never used this website, but they seem to have what you’re looking for, if you don’t mind this style of lettering….you might look around on there a bit to see if there are different styles:

And the letter “A”:

you can actually custom order silicon molds with whatever you want, such as a repeated single letter. here’s a form for a custom mold: http://www.soapandcandlemolds.com/custommolds.asp but i’m not sure if the molds are food-safe.

here’s a site where you can make your own silicon molds (no idea how it works) that are food-safe: http://www.culinart.net/silicone.html

cute idea!

arrggh i just wrote a comment and it didn’t store.

you can get custom silicon molds made with a repeated letter, but it may be expensive. this is a site for candle and soap molds, which you might be able to use if it’s food-safe: http://www.soapandcandlemolds.com/

here’s a site where you can make your own: http://www.culinart.net/silicone.html (i have no idea how it works).

well we aren’t doing letters (Sorry) - we are doing maple leaves since we are having a fall wedding. I will make some in Dark, white and milk chocolate. It was really cheap! For 100 guests its costing us $75 bucks (ribbon, bags, choc, & molds)

If you look under letter chocolate molds and scroll down you will find the molds and I think they have 4 letters per mold,
for $3.

Apple Cookie & Choc. Company will make them for you; their stuff is *so* delicious! They don’t show any of their custom stuff on the website; you have to call, but they do great packaging, etc.

My cousin had custom horseshoe chocolates from them at her wedding. So cute!

Hi, I am looking for the letter molds myself. I went and did a a search for Jacque Torres and that took me to the foodnetwork and showed me where he gets his molds. These are some of the websites I got:
http://www.chocolateworld.com
http://www.chocolatefarm.com
http://www.tomric.com (that is where I found the letter molds).
I hope this helps.

Apple Cookie will make almost anything out of chocolate. Amie is right you do have to call because they do not show all of the chocolate pieces or they custom stuff, but they will make anything. My brother had them make chocolate picture frames with an edible picture of him and his bride… So cute and so delicious!!
