More From My Trip West - Basket Update!

March 17th, 2007 @ 2:52 pm by Mrs. Lily

Alright, ladies, you all helped me come up with ideas for my welcome baskets… here is the (almost) finished product (my Dad later wrapped with cellophane and tied with a teal satin ribbon– you can kind of see one to the right of the red chair):

welcome-baskets

This picture does not do the baskets justice since it’s not a close up, but I was seriously sleep deprived and amazed I even remembered to take this snap!

So, here is what I included:

-Cactus lollipop

-Arizona iced tea

-2 bottles of water

-Jalapeno potato chips

-Chex mix

-Either a Reese’s peanut butter cup pack, Hershey bar, or Kit Kat

-Orbitz gum (in sea green!)

-2 lindt truffles

-A big cookie

Seriously, I wanted to eat one myself.

You can’t see it, but we filled the bottom of the baskets with this crinkle stuff:

For those who are interested, it’s called “spring fill” and it looked darling! I did it so it popped up around all the goodies.

I will say that these baskets took FOREVER. My Mom and I had an assembly line going and were up until 5am one night doing 60 of them. My mamma is such a trooper. Everyone better eat every single thing in their baskets or I am coming to get them! Just kidding…

They look awesome. I’ve been thinking about a little package for my out of town guests myself. I think I plan to do what you are doing…water and lots of snacks. Who doesn’t love that? I was wondering where you got the baskets. They seem expensive everyplace I’ve checked online. Good luck with your big day!

They look gorgeous! We just decided what we’re going to do for our out of town guests (about 150), and the length of time it took to make your 60 makes me nervous — if you don’t mind sharing, what was the most time consuming piece of the project?

The baskets look great. Where did you get the crinkled paper and how much was it. I have been looking for the same paper.

Did you do two bottles of water for every basket no matter how many guests were in that particular room? I’m trying to figure out if I do one for each person (say, a family of four with two kids) or if I just do everything the same and let them deal. The only problem with doing it all in one is that I’d need bigger baskets which obviously cost more $. I guess I could do all the baskets in twos and then just give families multiple baskets?

And LB, try somewhere like Party City or any craft place that might have a lot of Easter stuff. To me the crinkle paper seems Easter-ish.

Aw - they’re so cute! I love getting little treats as a wedding guest, so I know they’ll be greatly appreciated.

What the heck is a cactus lollipop??!??

kandaceandjason — do them all the same and let them deal.
