I apologize for the unprofessional looking pictures. I nearly forgot to take a picture so when I remembered to do it, I did it rather sloppily because I was pretty tired after we finished these. I think I made 50 in total, which is small in comparison to a lot of other weddings, but still labor intensive nevertheless. I didn’t keep a tally of how much things cost and bought extra. (Since I am a crafter, I always have room for extra supplies.)
Outside Envelope

I used Stardream Metallic and will also be using the same for my actual invites. I hand-wrote each envelope in cafe brown colored ink and used a calligraphy pen. It took a bit of practice since my writing is a bit rusty.
I cut, scored and folded each card. Front cover reads “We’re Engaged”

The magnets were made with our trusty Xyron machine. Mr. Violet helped me make all the magnets and he also cut the slits to insert the magnets. Without him, I don’t know if I could have managed. The picture we used was taken in Paris 2 days before the proposal. I thought it was very fitting to use that picture, and the Seine River serves as a lovely backdrop. We added a very simple white font note as our Save the Date… nothing fancy there.
The bottom reads “Invitation to follow”

We received many compliments on our Save the Dates and some even thought it was done professionally. I was very pleased with these and happy that we were able to do it. I do have to make one note here though, a pretty big mistake I made. We placed one of these magnets on our fridge and a couple of weeks after, I noticed that the edges were yellow around the magnet. It’s no longer purely white on the border! Fortunately, images of Paris are always vintage-y looking and the yellow edging works in this case so I doubt anyone will notice or think it damaged.
Mr. Violet and I tried to figure out what it could be. It shouldn’t be the magnet itself since the product is made for this type of a job… after a bit of thinking, Mr. Violet decided that it must have been the ink we used in printing the pictures. We didn’t use grade A ink, so perhaps that could have made the difference. So for you crafters out there, beware, make sure you use good ink or have the pictures printed professionally.
Hope this inspires you in your wedding projects!
Good job! I’m usinig stardream for my pocketfolds and dread the scoring. My practice runs all have tattered/rough edged. I think I “scored” it to hard.
