For those of you who love the look of Couture Map’s hand drawn maps, but don’t love the price ($350), check out Laura Hooper’s Calligraphy who does similarly beautiful work for a $125 design fee. She offers a variety of services including 29 different calligraphy styles for envelope addressing, placecards, etc., as well as custom map design, invitation design & printing, and monogram design.

I had Laura do my envelopes, placecards, table signs, rehearsal dinner invites, etc….She is amazingly talented and wonderful to work with!!!

If I learn calligraphy, this is my ticket to make money off weddings after investing so much in my own. Actually, I am really wanting to learn how to do calligraphy…and I think it’s a beautiful art. 
It looks like she copied the couture maps right down the kissing fish and the faq page on her website. Doesn’t anyone create original work anymore?
the company who designed our invitations was terrible, but the only redeeming quality about them was that they introduced us to laura hooper.
when the designer failed to finish the envelopes on time, laura addressed about 200 envelopes WITH a return address in about two days. TWO DAYS! laura is easily accessible and very nice.
she is extremely accomodating, and i strongly recommend her to anyone wanting to get one of her maps or have her do the envelopes.
I tried to learn how to do calligraphy on my own… to no avail. I’ve been working with Lori Raines of Calligraphy by Lori. She’s been just fantastic and her prices are really fair. Plus, her turnaround time is really ridiculously fast, it’s incredible. the number of compliments I’ve gotten has been wonderful! She’s doing my escort cards too. Definitely worth checking out…
Laura Hoopers maps are 285.00. She actually is a bit of a rip off artist though- there are maps on her site that she didn’t even do!
