Bridesmaids Dress: Testing 1

March 22nd, 2007 @ 4:52 pm by Mrs. Snow Pea

My Maid of Honor came to visit in January. I was so happy she came to visit me because we were able to catch up and have some girly time together. I missed her so much. While she was here, we went to the bridal shop to try on the bridesmaid dress and see it in person.

This is Jim Hjelm 7255 in color Cloud. The other color I like is Lagoon, but compared to Cloud, I prefer the Cloud. I was afraid the taffeta would be too stiff and warm for an August wedding, but MOH thought it was just as light as the chiffon. I am glad to hear that because it’s important to me that my girls are happy.

Unlike other bodices, what is really flattering about this are the V-shaped seams which are very slimming.

The detachable sash is just lovely. (That’s me in the background sneaking a picture of the dress).

The sash up close. I love pretty details. It was also very easy to tie.

Now, the next task is to find matching shoes. Silver shoes are the default choice; however, it would be great if we could find a pair to match the sash. :)

Wedding taffeta is strange…it’s so much lighter than the taffeta I had been used to seeing in fabric stores.

Pretty dress & colors!

I am so excited that you posted these pictures!! The dress looks great!

I can’t decide between lagoon and cloud for my girls and I am only going by teeny swatches and internet pics b/c I haven’t been able to see a dress in either color in person.

I am worried that the lagoon won’t look as it does in the Jim Hjelm pics and that it will look like more of a severe blue. I want more of a pastel look.

Also, what color does the fawn sash look like in real life? It looks a little green in the pics. I was hoping it was more of an almond or taupe.

Hi Jennifer,
You should really go see the color in person and in the fabric you want the dress in. The colors vary according to fabric (as well as dye lot when you order it). Based of the website, I was looking at the lagoon but when I saw it in person, I found it too Green and went for the cloud. In person, the sash is more taupe/champagne. It’s very pretty. Even though the cloud is technically “blue”…it’s still so neutral which is funny.

Miss Snow Pea,
I wish I could see them in person but I don’t have many vendors close by and the ones that are close have a very limited selection.

I am pretty sure I am going to go with cloud too… my only hesitation is that it looks a little too green on the website but I love the color in your pics.
Interesting that you found the lagoon to be too green- it looks so blue in some of the pictures.
I know what you mean about the cloud being sort of neutral- I think that is one of the reasons I like it- it has a sophisticated, subtle appeal.
