Hi,

My name is Stacy and I subscribe to your blog. I am getting married next Friday and have a big problem. Yesterday, I had scheduled a meeting with my DJ, but he never showed up. He is nowhere to be found. He doesn’t answer my calls nor is he responding to my voice mails.

Since my wedding is in a week, I am freaking out now and thought about contacting you for help. Could you recommend me some good DJ’s in Manhattan?

I can’t recommend any good Manhattan DJs, but I would contact the Better Business Bureau if you’ve paid him anything.

Double check your contract first. What’s your escape clause or pre-specified remedy, if any? Is he an individual DJ or does he work for an organization that can send a sub? Do you know a lawyer who can read it for you?

i’ve never been to a nyc wedding other than mrs butterfly’s so i want to make sure that i give a recommendation based on personal experience.

there was a dj at the preston bailey party that was simply amazing. i think i can found out who he was if you’re interested!

meanwhile the person i wanted to book was dj johnny stuart - he was $2500 a day and booked on my date. but he gets rave reviews!

so sorry to hear that your dj bailed on you so close to the wedding. you should definitely contact the bbb and file a complaint.

You should contact your credit card company and dispute the charge… hopefully you put the deposit on a CC. I know that doesn’t help you find a new DJ, but at least you can get your money back. I had a problem w/a vendor and got my $ back this way.

I’m getting married in May and using Craig Scott (in NYC) - obviously haven’t heard them yet, but are very responsive. I also looked at Jerry Kravat who seemed to be good, too.

I just booked with a company based on the queens long island border, but they travel, they are called elegancia, they did my friends wedding, that is why i picked them - $975 for basic package. Try calling them 888-346-5262, might be too short notice but you never know. the owner was very nice and i had a great time at my friends wedding. good luck!

I am using The DJ Solution. They are based in the Hudson Valley, but I would be suprised if they didn’t travel. They are really awsome. They are a husband and wife team and the husband plays guitar. I adore them

Try NY Latin sounds. they travel to NYC i believe that they are out New Jersey. Very personal VERY resaonably priced and they even include lighting with thier package. I have a contract with them for an August wedding. You can check them out at http://www.nylatinsoundsdj.com I’ve dealt with Miguel who’s been good about getting back to me with my questions. I found them through the knot. HTH

We have booked The Pros for our August wedding - havne’t used them yet, but I believe they have many DJs in NYC and the surrounding areas since they are a fiarly large company, so they might be more likely to be able to do last minute? http://www.thepros.com

I can recommend a fantastic DJ based in NYC. He did my friend’s wedding last summer and was affordable and absolutely fantastic. If I weren’t have my wedding out of state, I would definitely use him. His name is DJ Seth K. His # is 212-696-1221.

I am recommending you to give Mason a call at 917 882 7985. He did my friend’s wedding and will be my DJ at my wedding next year.
He has great packages at reasonable prices.
