Weekly Roundup

March 22nd, 2007 @ 4:17 pm by Mrs. Bee

Hey guys!

Remember when we used to link to the week’s most interesting wedding related news in a feature called the Weekly Roundup? Well truth be told we stopped doing it because it was a ton of work to scour through hundreds of news stories each week, and we wouldn’t get comments on the posts so it was hard to tell if it was a popular feature.

But a reader brought it up yesterday so we’d like to know… do you think we should bring back the weekly roundup?

If yesterday was the first time that a reader brought it up, then it wasn’t missed *that* much.

It sounds too labor intensive to bring back. Your time is valuable.

no. but i think if you made it reader-supported, rather than research it yourself, if might be worth it.

Instead of you doing all the searching, how about you put out a weekly call for suggestions, then you can work from the suggestions to build the roundup!

I love the roundup!

It sounds like a great idea, but don’t do it if it’s too hard.

Jennefer’s idea is a good one. Create a place for readers to add what they have found. I did enjoy the round-up very much, but like the knottie bios I don’t always have comments to enter after clicking away and reading other content.

Definitely! Cover, for example, the upcoming change in postage rates!

bridalwave has a weekly roundup feature, too. I like it quite a bit, and really do miss seeing one here on WB. But if it’s not worth your time, dont’ worry about it–most of us ‘bees post interesting news stories when we come across them, anyway.

Oh, and thanks Mrs Bee for putting up that little icon at the top of the tab! :-)

I remember reading the links. Maybe if you want more comments/discussion, can you post a little bit of text from 3-4 articles instead of a list of links to 15? That might be less work and prompt more discussion if we don’t have to go to another website to read it–although I’m not sure if you’re allowed to just copy text from another site. I would do it in my blog, but this site is really more than a blog.

I liked the round-up, but honestly, I didn’t even know it was gone! There is much more “original” content on this site that is worth looking at =)

I was the one who commented yesterday, so yes, I think you should bring it back! But it sounds like you already do so much, Mrs. Bee…. could you designate a specific person, like a weddingbee that just does that? I also like the idea of it being reader supported.

I really liked it, and I think it would be great if you delegated that task to someone else.

Also, I did miss it but I didn’t know if it was just on hiatus or anything, so I didn’t ask about it.

It would be nice to see but if it’s too labor intensive then don’t worry about it!
