Mrs. Kiwi's Picture
Mrs. Kiwi, Los Angeles Age and Occupation in 06: 27, Bookkeeper Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, P.E. Teach/Coach @ private schools in LA Engagement Date: March 31, 2006 Wedding Date: November 3, 2007 Venue: Radisson Hotel About Me: I'm a bookkeeper who failed high school algebra. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, literally a street over from where I grew up with Mr. Kiwi, my honey of three years. We have a jumbo mini-dachshund (seriously, he's huuuuge), and we're planning an autumn themed wedding on a shoestring, paid for by ourselves. The wedding date is my late grandma's birthday, I needed her there somehow, and that seemed like the best way for us. I can't believe I'm a Bee! I couldn't be more proud!

Leafy Goodness!

March 23rd, 2007 @ 9:27 am by Mrs. Kiwi

Since my last post was about pumpkins, I thought I’d blog about the number one used item in fall weddings: leaves.

These are also from Another Fall Bio:

For the ceremony, these are arches or pew wreaths (I like the pew wreaths!)

I think these are the leaves from Paper Source, and I’m really considering them!

Some more random leafy things:

I LOVE these vases of leaves, but am unsure how to use them.

And these are cake possibilities, I love the intricate scrolling on these!

So these are the last of the leafy things, let me know if you’re interesting in different kinds of favors, there are a ton!

i don’t like this theme…it seems a bit dull and boring. maybe it’s just me!

Yeeeah I think that’s just “me” who thinks that! ;-)

If I were doing it all over I’m 90% sure I would choose a fall theme, there’s just sooo much you can do with it without seeming cheesy (like so many other “themes”) and I just looove all the rich colors!!

I started out with a Fall “Leaf” theme and it somehow evolved into an apple theme. I don’t dislike the fall leaf theme I just prefer apples. We are doing our engagement pictures in an apple orchard when the trees are in bloom (May) to signify the “beginning” of the process and then the wedding will have the actual apples to signify the fruits of our labor (I know, I know…it’s really, really corny).

Some people just aren’t into the fall colors or just that time of year. Agreed, if the browns and oranges are just too “blah” it can be dull; add a signature pick-up color to keep it lively. Maybe throw in something unexpected like burgandy, deep plum, or a sunny yellow (colors that exist in fall foliage) to keep it cheerful and “custom.”

LOVE the marzipan leaves on the wedding cakes — More appetizing and colorful than the paper leaves, too.
