What A Keeper!

March 26th, 2007 @ 11:52 pm by Mrs. Lime

I previously blogged about the one piece of jewelry (besides my engagement ring and wedding band, of course), er two pieces, I guess, that I want to wear on my wedding day.

After much thought and recommitment #19,087,237 to sticking to our budget, I decided not to spend that much money on earrings that weren’t even real pearls (not glass, but still man-made), only silver, and CZ. Yes, I’d definitely wear them again, but no, I couldn’t justify spending that much money on faux jewelry. A friend was even going to sell hers to me, but I told her to go ahead and return them as I was going to look for cheaper alternatives. Since I had resolved to forget them, I had all but put them out of my mind. I stopped looking at them. I stopped checking my own blog entry about them. What??? All you bloggers out there know you do it, too winky08.

Fast forward to this past weekend when I went to New Jersey/NYC for a wedding (post to come on that adventure, pending approval from the bride). Mr. Lime picked me up from the airport. When we got back to his place, he said he had something for me. In a gray Saks bag stuffed with tissue paper, in a gray Saks box, were THE earrings!

He was bored over the weekend without me (awwww #1, since he normally finds a million and one things to do without me and doesn’t usually miss me *that* much) and decided to go shopping. He then decided to go shopping for me rather than himself (awwww #2, since he’s a boy that likes plenty of tech- and sports-related toys). With a slightly intoxicated male friend in tow, he ventured into Saks with every detail he could glean off my blog entry and Saks’ website. A few mispronunciations of the brand later (awwww #3), he walked out with overpriced (but oh-so-perfect-for-my-wedding-AHN-SAHMB-LEH) earrings (squeal-inducing awwww #4).

Now since you dear, faithful readers have stuck through a lengthy, sticky sweet shameless attention-whore diatribe, another photo for your pleasure:

Sexy Jack Black in my wedding colors, of course. What? You were expecting photos of my actual earrings or something? Sorry, the lime’s PC is out of commission, so no photos will be uploaded until Mr. Lime completes the next task on his “Nice Things to do for Miss Lime” list.

Definitely a keeper! Mr. Lime is such a sweetie. Mr. Pencils did something similar–I happened to show him some earrings in the most recent Martha Stewart Weddings, in their article about pearls. A month later, I opened my birthday present and there were the earrings! Apparently he looked in the back of the magazine after I put it down, bookmarked the web page, and got them for me. The sad thing is that they don’t look good with my wedding dress, but I have worn them almost constantly since my birthday, they’re lovely earrings. Check them out, this jewelry artist has lovely stuff:
