About Mrs. Raspberry

We put all of the final touches on the bridesmaid dresses (which we are having made in Thailand) this week, except for the bow/knot for the back.

The final color choice was the same color as this ribbon (it is actually a little darker than the color showing up on my screen)…

and they are going to be similar to this Watters and Watters dress.

So we are debating between these two backs…

Which do you like better?

Can I vote for option 3? Which has the cris-crossy back of #1 and the no bow of #2?

I voted for #1–it’s got that criss-crossing that adds the extra “oomph” and turns the dress from “very nice” to “wow!!!” :-)

I’m with Miss Blueberry - #1 is my choice and I think the extra criss-crossing will help to “minimize” the look of the back, if you know what I mean…

I agree with Mrs. Blueberry also. The criss cross adds a little something extra, but perhaps the bow might be too much. Leaving it with just a knot and the end hanging down will be really nice.

i love the unique criss-crossing of #1 — if i went with dupioni silk, i would have chosen that watters dress for my BMs!
i think the bow is lovely for a wedding, but the no-bow option increases the re-wearability of the dress. just my $0.02…

can you do a mix of both? i think it looks great when bridesmaids look just slightly different.

Butt bows can be a little “young” for adults.

that is a beautiful dress and the color is lovely, either back would look very pretty

although if you could get the criss cross element of one with the flowiness of the skirt in 2 i think that would be ideal.

i am just not a big fan of bows.

When I read the post, I tried thinking like a bridesmaid, and I know that none of my bridesmaids like bows, and have even joked “just don’t give me a big butt bow”… so that was why I picked number 2…

I vote #2 — the simplicity gives the option of rewearing this quite lovely dress later without it looking too bridesmaid-sey. and yes, just say no to the dreaded “big bow butt”.

i just love the first one… i was always told that it’s nice to have a little something something for the back of the bridesmaid dress & wedding dress… cuz sometimes when the photographers are taking pictures from back of the ceremony site, the backs of the girls are mainly showing… of course this is depending on how the bridal party is faced… i’m a photographer so that’s just my take :)
