Workout Fever

March 29th, 2007 @ 11:32 am by Mrs. Raspberry

With the onslaught of spring in DC, I have been a super motivated bee!

And truth be told, there is another motivator, which is the Cherry Blossom Ten-Miler that Mr. Raspberry and I are running on Sunday. I love to run and have run several marathons. But in the past six months, my running has significantly tapered. I am even a little nervous about the run on Sunday because I have been a lazy lout. I know it will be fine and I will do fine… I’m just guessing that I’m not going to like what the clock says when I reach the finish line. :(

I really only started running daily again last week, :) and I attribute this renewal in my desire to run to the beautiful weather, and the cherry blossoms and tulip trees which are blooming all over the place right now.

I even stepped on the scale today and was excited about the number!

How are you doing with your workout plan, and has spring helped get you motivated to get moving for your wedding?

think many brides wish to work out….try to work out…and would like to work out..but many times there is not much of effort put in…

my wife did try to exercise and look good and fit…but due to work..didnt really follow the exercise routine

My best friend from college (one of my BMs) is also running that! I’m hoping to get to see her in it - right now we’re planning to go but it might change. My FI only likes to exercise doing fun things (really not a gym type of person), so now that it’s getting warmer hopefully we can get in some tennis and long walks! Even though my wedding is fast approaching I am actually deciding to QUIT the gym - who wants to stay inside with such beautiful weather outside?

Ughh, the scale has NOT budged, and I have been “trying” to lose weight since the new year!!! soooo frustrating. then again, apparently i’m not trying very hard, so i only have myself to blame! haha, shame on Miss E… =/

Good luck in the run Miss Raspberry!

I enjoy running too. I am running a half marathon in 2 weeks…eek! It has been a great way to get in shape, but has definitely made my legs a little bigger/musclely. I think after the run, to get a little leaner I will tone down the mileage and add a variety of workouts (elliptical, pilates, strength training, etc.).

I’m running the 10-miler as well on Sunday. And like you, my running has been less than consistent since MCM in October. Even my impending dress fitting hasn’t been enough to get me moving. But I’m pretty sure my finishing time on Sunday will do the trick :)

GL!

I’m a runner as well, but lately I can’t bring myself to run. I don’t know…I ran on a track all through the winter, and I got tired of it and began using the elliptical. Hopefully the nice weather will get me running outside again!

I’m a runner, too. I’m doing a half marathon at the end of April.

I haven’t lost my motivation so much as had to skip runs here and there to fit in wedding related errands and appointments.

I consider myself an “ex-runner.” I ran a half marathon last year and since then, minimized my running. That in turn, turned my big quads and calves into mush, so I started using the elipital 3 times a week to tone my legs and overall body. It’s totally working! My fi and I also play tennis with another couple on the weekends- which allows him to exercise.

Good for you! I’ve been sticking pretty well to my commitment this year. I’ve lost 26 lbs. since July 06. Not bad. I decided to not do any plays this year (I’m a part-time actor) so I can really take the time to focus on my workouts and getting in shape for the wedding. Since the New Year I’ve been working out at the YMCA 3 - 4 times a week and I’ve been keeping up with my diet, thanks to my blog and Sparkpeople.com. I really need to set some mini-goals to keep me motivated… my shower is July 22nd, so I think that will be my next benchmark.

Our cherry blossoms in the real Washington are prettier.

I have been a couch potato!

Good luck with the 10 miler. Unlike everyone else in the D.C. area, I will be hiding in my apartment for the rest of spring and therefore not getting in any running — I am extremely allergic to cherry blossoms (I was not aware of this fact until AFTER I moved to D.C. and find myself surrounded by hundreds of trees everywhere I go.).
