The J Crew Inside Scoop

March 30th, 2007 @ 6:38 pm by Mrs. Bee

BFF Bridal is a fabulous weekly email newsletter that covers the latest in high-end wedding trends. Last week they had a great feature on Colin Cowie’s favorite wedding resources (which can be found on their website), and today’s newsletter featured some great information on J Crew’s bridesmaids dresses. They often share inside scoops, so you gotta sub to stay in the loop! :)

Evidently J Crew’s wedding party attire is selling so well, they’re even being sold on ebay at marked up prices! A new summer collection is set to arrive in May, but you can start preordering now:

How it works: call a J.Crew “Special Occasion Coordinator” at 800.205.3877 (Brenda, at extension 54157, is especially helpful), and she’ll tell you about the new colors, like Fresh Tangerine, Mosaic Blue and Burnished Olive. She’ll also walk you through the size chart, chat about fit and fabrics, and even mail you swatches of the new fabrics.

Pre-ordering is as simple as making your selections and providing your billing info; as soon as the line is ready, they’ll ship it out.

Another great tidbit: there’s a seersucker dress for $58 that’d be adorable as a flower girl dress, but it’s in the Everyday Dresses section instead of the Weddings & Parties section. Thanks for the tip!

J. Crew’s dresses are versatile, stylish, and effortlessly chic. It’s hands down my favorite place to shop for a bridesmaid dress or party dress!

I wanted my BM’s to be able to wear their dresses again–REALLY–so we got a great J.Crew dress (Silk Chiffon Sophia) in black and they all love it! I know at least a couple of them have plans to wear them again in the future.

Oh, thanks for letting us know about the release of new colors. I really love the J Crew dresses, but they haven’t had anything in my colors for a while. I just called, but the said that, unfortunately, there won’t be any purple or lavender colors in this collection.

I have to say, I got all of my girls dresses on ebay, jcrew- espresso colored, and the most I paid for a dress was $91, and that was for a dress that is currently selling on JCrew for $295. All four of them are gorgeous, but beware of one thing. If you want your dress color to match perfectly, but you want to choose different dresses for each member, make sure you pick the same fabric. That wasn’t important to me, so I have one in silk chiffon, one in cotton cady, and one in silk faille. But the difference in color is quite dramatic because of the different textures.
