About Mrs. Blueberry

Dave and Buster’s

March 31st, 2007 @ 2:38 pm by Mrs. Blueberry

Last night my MOH and dear friend Katie turned 21. Since many of our other friends are still 20, she wanted to go celebrate somewhere that they could come along (ie not a typical bar). So about 15 of us got together at the new Dave and Buster’s that opened not too long ago out at Legends (a big shopping/dining complex out on the Kansas side of KC). If you’re under 21, you have to have someone who’s over 25 let you in, but then the whole place is open to all ages.

D&B’s has all sorts of arcade games–it’s sort of like Chuck E Cheese for grown-ups! You buy a plastic swipe card and then load it up with points (it’s about $10 for 48 points, iirc), then swipe your card in the slots on all the game machines. It’s sort of like tokens for the 21st century smiley106.

Mr. Blueberry and I spent a good chunk of time playing one of those trivia machine games, and earned enough tickets to get ourselves 6 shot glasses. smiley506 It was a very good time–a lively atmosphere, but still kid-appropriate (though the preschool teacher in me must say I wasn’t too fond of seeing 3-year-olds running around at 12:30 am!).

I kept thinking about how D&B’s would be an awesome place to have a rehearsal dinner–they have private dining rooms and will set up any sort of buffet or seated dinner that you want, and then after everyone has eaten you can turn loose and have a really good time. There were also a couple of bachelor parties going on while we were there.

Dave and Buster’s has several locations across the US–here’s a link to them all.

Has anybody else ever been to one? What did you think of it?

d&b is the default hang out place for me and my guy friends. it’s perfect…you got dinner, video games and then the bar is all within walking distance of each other. i love it. i love the minimum age requirements too…it makes things a whole lot funner.

I think that would be a great place to have a Rehearsal dinner. We had ours at a similar place (games, a bar, and food) and it was a big hit!

I’ve organized corporate parties there. It’s such a fun place for adults!

I live near the one in Milpitas, CA. I’ve been going there for years with friends. We’re not fond of the food - it’s pretty expensive and ultimately not that great (at least in our collective opinion.) Gotta love games and boozin’. We don’t have to worry about seeing little ones at 12:30am however, at 10pm they kick out anyone under 21. We had a party in one of the rooms, the pool table was the dinner table - so that was pretty nifty.

My fiancee and I love Dave and Busters… there’s one very close in our area so we’re lucky. :) We’re probably going to end up there for part of my bachelorette party (my future sister-in-law is only 16, so it works out really well). One of my friends had her bachelorette party wrap up there, and my fiancee went to a bachelor party there, although the bachelor party was a little fancier and they had dinner, a private room, etc etc. Overall a fun place in general!

I love D&B! There’s one less than 10 minutes away (depending on traffic) and we head over there 1 every couple of months or so. LOVE the tempura mushrooms with the dipping sauce! Everyone I know here loves heading over there.
