Quickpod

Do you hate asking people to take your picture? Then check out this gizmo called the Quikpod - a handheld monopod that extends up to 18 inches, allowing you to take your own photo or video. $24.99.

Am I a total geek for wanting this? It’s better than stretching your arm out, holding the camera as far as you can, only to get off centered pictures, no? :P

There’s also the gorilla pod! A coworker is in London right now and said he uses it all the time. The legs are bendable but really sturdy - we tried it around the office hanging it (with the camera attached) from plants, shelves, etc. It’s 21.95: http://www.joby.com/gp1.html

I have to have that! I’m never in my own pictures, and with our mega honeymoon coming up, this is perfect.

Thanks Mrs Bee :D

I agree that the pic is pretty goofy, but I like the idea.

My only concern is, that any wavering/shaking you’d naturally get from holding the camera would possibly be even worse, since the camera’s on a long stick. Right? (I don’t claim to be a photography expert!)

Seriously dorky and i agree w/ Miss Blueberry that it would probably still be shaky and off-center. (The gorilla one is surprisingly neat, tho, because it lets you put the camera in wacky places.)

We usually just find another couple taking pictures of each other and offer to take theirs together and they return the favor.

I”m intrigued. We would have so many more pictures together if I had one of these! =) And of course my DH would make fun of me to no end.

i agree with the gorilla pod. my coworker bought one for her boyfriend and they both rave about it. i may look into investing myself though i’m pretty good with the “hail mary” self-portraits.

I have the gorilla pod and love it, but you have to find somewhere to attach it or set it up. Not always possible, which is where this handy little holder comes in.
